Need Some Technical Assitance please.
 
ok heres my situation... i got me a HTC TOuch Pro 2

When Pluged into pc it keeps cycling or something power lite goes off then back on for like 5 min or so then repeats..

the phone will not power on or if it does does not show anything i have tried accessing boot loader im not sure if it is or not as i cant see on the screen, is there any fixes for this? on how to reset the bootloader/rom/ or what ever is needed to back to factory settings to see if this will fix the probleme

to hard reset you hit talk end and power when the phone is off.

ya thats not working well, when pluged in to charger i get an orange charge lite im assuming... but when i try and power it on i get nothing, but when its hooked upt to a pc with usb the pc will reconize it so im sure its not 100% bricked.... i got the phone from my brother who was tryin to unlock it from sprint to at&t or something and ended up messing it up, im not sure what program he was using to flash it or what not, iid like to see if i can get it back to working order

pull the battery and hold the volume down button, while doing this press the power button and it should come on in bootloader mode which from there u can flash the stock rom. if this does not work then im afraid u have a brick.

it also almost sounds like a hardware SOD .cause the op is saying the computer can recognize it but nothing comes on screen .

ok i got some more info off my brother he manged to unlock the phone with olinex he said its the global phone so its a hybrid verision.. he went to go unlock the radios and thats when it SOD, or what nots

its not a hybrid and your brother screwed up probably running wrong file. yes its a world phone but really has nothing to do with anything but he still needs to use correct files.

From what you described in your first post, it sounds like you have a bad battery first of all. Then if you can verify the battery is ok or swap it with one that will charge then do what eric suggested and see if you can flash the shipped rom.
When the phone is powered down and you plug it into a charger or usb port does the orange charging light come on and stay on?

Yep, you could be right. That's partially why I asked if the op plugs it into the charger does it charge. Troubleshooting has to start with the simple things.

well thanks for inputs... now the big question is is it possable to use the SD card to try and reflash or is it not feasable?
when the phone is powered down and pluged into charger the orange charge lite does show... as for battery im not sure i took it to a sprint store they said the battery is good sooo thats not the issues. and when the phone is powered down and hooked into a pc it goes into a loop of sorts the orange lite is on for 5 min then off for a few then back on for 5 min or so...

Hook it up to the charger and charge it overnight and then after that follow the directions to flash the shipped rom from your sd card.

since the device cant do active sync i tried myMobiler and that didnt work

when plugged into the charger it will stay on untill what im assuming is charged.. when plugged into a pc tho the orange lite does come on... but will only stary on for 5 min cycles. or so, as for getting into boot loader i have tried various times hard and soft resets


called HTC they said it would cost me 200-400$ to have it serviced. for that i can get a new one but id like to try and get this one here working again would be nice :)

that's what my one replacement would do . charge fine on the charger but do pretty much nothing on the computer cable . sounds like the infamous bad mini USB port on the device . your best bet is to do as horndoctor said and let it charge followed by flashing from your SD card .

Didn't he say it worked fine before his brother tried to unlock it and stuff?
So why would it be the infamous bad mini USB port problem? Either way, if you can get the USB to charge and not touch it at all, then it should keep charging as is.

I personally think he bricked it and nothing to do with USB.

After it is fully charged we need to get into bootloader to see if it has the correct spl on it and then we can proceed. If a gsm radio was flashed to it or the wrong spl then yes it's a brick. :(

I just switched to a new phone and am no longer using my TP2. It IS a recent refurb that had the keyboard worked on by an authorized Sprint tech at a Sprint Service Center. It has one brand new, unopened OEM battery and another bat thats about 8 months old.

I'll be glad to sell it to you for $125.00 plus shipping. PM me if you are interested, otherwise, I'm going to post it on the sites bargain trader forum.
