WM 6.1 or 6.5
 

Wondering if anyone has an reason why 6.5 is better than 6.1. Just got the TP2 (yeah I'm behind times lol but that's where I am).

I like 6.1 for the layout but wondering if 6.5 actually offers an advantage over 6.1 besides a difference in layouts. Like is 6.5 faster/better power management/etc?

6.5 tends to have alot more eye candy and finger friendly enhancements than 6.1 and as a result there is a major performance and memory hit.

6.1 however does not look as good or is as finger friendly as 6.5 but performance and memory management is among the best u can get with the hardware that the tp2 has.

despite these statements in the general sense there are roms in 6.5 that have made it almost as stable and light as 6.1.


I've ran Roms in both versions and have not noticed any significant gain or loss in battery life. so in the end it all depends on what ur looking for, if u want a phone that's reliable from day to day that won't go crazy on u and u don't want to hunt down and flash custom roms then go with 6.1. if u want flashy animations, and the latest and greatest cute stuff and love to hunt down and flash roms all the time then go with 6.5.

Thanks I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure.

As for the finger friendly thing on 6.5, I find 6.1 easier for my fingers because it's all on a grid and not honeycombed. And I don't have problems putting my finger where I'm wanting it to go :D.

I do miss the old start menu that 6.1 had on touch pro, since one in touch pro 2 makes it feel like 6.5 start menu. But I'll live :D

Is there a way to get back the programs tab that the touch pro has on 6.1? Not sure if you are familiar with this or not. I've been trying to google for it but no luck yet

I agree with Eric on this. I too dislike 6.5.x. Thats why I have the 6.1 kitchen in the upgrades forum. Eric is also correct on how to resolve the issue you are talking about.

6.1 is by far my favorite OS besides Android.

Scott's SSK rom is lights out great! But to be fair Vin 6.5 Neodium was damn good as well :)

I have a custom ROM I made running 6.5.x and I absolutely love it . especially now since I have the upgraded messageing program from HTC on .

its still in its works , as mms doesn't seem to wanna work with the new HTC messageing . however I will make it work ^-^ and its a striped ROM , I leave it up to the user to put what they want on it :)
