Remove Sprint Apps
Does anyone have a cab or instructions that will allow me to remove the Sprint apps from the Start Menu or allow me to move them to a sub-directory? (I cannot use GoodThings2Life because it causes problems with my phone.) I just want to yank things like Sprint Music Store, Sprint Navigation, NFL, NASCAR, etc.

Re: Remove Sprint Apps
eww y would u want to stay with that POS ROM? anyway aside from using a GT2L .cab or flashing a custom rom there's really no way to achieve what ur asking for. its like trying to buy a car without an engine.

Re: Remove Sprint Apps
I never had any compatibility issues on vins rom. u can try that or u can also install the stock 6.1 rom, any rom is superior to the stock 6.5 rom.

I'd like to know what you perceive the problems to be with the stock 6.5 ROM because I'm not seeing any problems. It's fast, stable, and battery life is great. I can install about anything that any custom ROM has. |

Personally, on the stock rom , i always got "services.exe" errors continuesly , as well as cprog.exe errors .. also , with a custom ROM you can get a newer build , im sure you have experienced SOD's on the stock ROM . There are also ROMs where you can have it stripped to only want what you want on there . like my ROMs . Its the basics nothing more . it allows a more user end experience . Where a stock ROM is what sprint gives you .. Try multitasking with a stock ROM , guarentee you apps will close without you knowing in order to free up space . But yeah you can only remove the links in the start menu folder under the windows directory . you cant fully remove them as they are cooked into the rom and are only removable by flashing . I was in the same boat as you when i was a noob , then i discovered flashing , and never thought again about a stock ROM . only when going for warrenty replacements . Whatever you decide ! good luck ! we are happy to help with what we can ! |

Two of us guys bought this phone. Travis didn't need a phone as bad as I so he got excited and tried custom ROMs. Excited one minute, problem the next. Compatibility issues, poor battery life, the usual. The only thing that I've found is that one must be careful which apps. I figured GT2L should be pretty benign. Not so, but I have good backups. Things like Remote Tracker were developed with 6.1 and don't work right on 6.5, etc. Almost all of the tweaks software makes changes to the registry for items that don't even apply to 6.5 or are already there by default. If I wanted to use very little memory, I wouldn't use Sense/Touch Flo. Every problem and instability that I've come across has been from an app that wasn't right, or were built for of 6.1, while I was running it on 6.5. Even with CHT 2.0, and of the pages and levels and Free Links along with WKTask, it comes in at 68%. It might get up to 74% or even 78% while I'm doing things, but it will work it's way back down overnight as Windows returns and optimizes memory. I've done my due diligence, and judging from reading hundreds of threads and the problems people have with custom ROMs with software compatibility and their work-arounds, I've determined that the minuses outweigh the pluses. The Sprint Apps are simply worthless clutter to me, and hiding them is all I wanted to do. This is my daily driver, not some hot rod. |

Memory usage on just the stock ROM was always better for me then any of the newer ROMs with updated software (ie Sense, etc.) made for newer devices with more memory, better processor, etc. The last time I re-built my kitchen, I started off from just the Sprint 6.5 ROM and added things in, keeping the SYS the same until I was done adding in all of the OEM packages I wanted. It probably took a week or two and I did not have one SOD or any other error based on the fact I was using 21889. I know everyone has their own opinion, and this is just mine based off of the 100's of ROMs I've built myself using 3 different development kitchens (EVK, OSKitchen, and currently the best OSBuilder :)) built from the ground-up from a stock ROM. |

Re: Remove Sprint Apps
definitely disagree. the RAM issue in the stock 6.5 was real according to the test I did of it both with and without the GT2L cab there's something in it that's causing the bloat and whatever is in a custom rom removes it. the stock 6.1 rom doesn't have this issue.
