if you're talking about the sprint tp2, it DOES have a sim slot and it CAN be used on US gsm networks after hacking :)

I'm having this same problem. I have sim unlocked, have unlocked radio, and am on the energy rom, but I cant find an available gsm network. the really funny part is that it comes up when I go to set network, but I cant select it manually either. Did you ever figure out a fix?

I assume the sim card is for the correct network (though of course roaming should be possible)

is the signal strong enough? have you checked it on another rom?

Obviously I know it has a sim given that I owned one, but if I'm not mistaken, the frequencies are different which is hardware. ATT and t-mobile have 2 frequencies each and share one. Verizon and sprint the same. However US gsm and cdma frequencies aren't shared unless you get a carrier specific sim (make a call, Verizon and Sprint both have them but are not willing to give them out easily and even then probably won't work).

Hacking a sprint tp2 allows you to use Verizon, Sprint, rogers or TELUS. Fairly confident you cant do t-mobile or ATT because we would have interchangable blackberries. Overseas carriers share 1 frequency with sprint thus we can use them minus 3g.
By now I could be wrong though, haven't had one since June.

my apologies then, i have flashed their radios and stuff so i can sell to anyone, but never worked. I'm not ignorant when it comes to that phone given that I had the verizon prls and telus radios for better service. I was even on Froyo dual booted.

Post a link if you can. Thanks

The SIM unlocker that Eric posted is it :). It's a world phone but GSM locked in the states, Olipro and Cmonex unlocked it.
