slow data on "sprint (dial up)"

I am running stock wm 6.1 and seem to have a slow data connection. My top task bar shows an "EV" icon, but when I tap that it says "Sprint (Dial Up)" connected. Data appears to be slow and my motweet twitter app won't run or update. Comm manager shows Data connection is "on."

Is the "Sprint (Dial Up)" the correct description of the data connection or if not, how do I get back to a EVDO or 1x data connection which is faster? I can't seem to figure out the right settings. I haven't installed any new ROM's or applications and this just started happening. Also, have tried a couple soft resets and doesn't work.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Everyone has been complaining about slow data connections lately. Could this be the culprit??

Here's my prescription:

Soft Reset
Then after you boot completely install this cab:

Then wait a Minute or so.
Then Soft Reset and try again.

Take that and call me in the morning!
:D

Re: slow data on "sprint (dial up)"

Thanks, I will try that.

But does anyone know if the correct description is "Sprint (Dial Up)" when you touch the EV icon at the top of the screen? this icon is the EV with a box around it and when you touch the icon, the popup bubble says "Sprint (Dial Up)" is connected. Is that normal?? is my phone on a "dial up" type connection and not 3g??

thanks

When I tap EV (or anything on the top bar) I get a "Notifications" screen with my battery percent and my Sprint signal strength. I am on a stock 6.5. let me grab my Mogul - it's on 6.1 ...

Re: slow data on "sprint (dial up)"

that's no help - it's not activated.
You'd have to go look in

start/settings/connections tab/ connections to see what's up.

Mine says the same thing. You are getting 3g (evdo) if you see the Ev icon and 2g if you see the 1x icon.

Whether you realize it or not all these devices dial out for all our data connections. Have you ever noticed when you have a connection problem or maybe data isn't set up properly that you may see the "Dialed 777" message bubble that will pop up telling you it is unable to connect? I can't say I've seen this on my TP2 but I've definitely seen it before on my older WinMo phones.

Re: slow data on "sprint (dial up)"

Thanks.

I guess I never noticed it said "dial up." I have the EV icon, so I guess I'm on 3g. Maybe it's just slow. I can't download any apps from the Omarket and motweets has stopped working, both give me communication errors. Opera mini is running just ok, but opera mobile 10 is very slow.

Maybe just a slow data connex.
