Error On Transferring ROM Image
So I've unlocked my phone previously but sent it away for repairs and now want to flash a new ROM. However, I get an error when the I get to the file transfer screen during the custom ROM loading process and it says:
Error [262]: UPDATE ERROR The ROM utility has encountered communications errors during the update process. The program will guide you step-by-step to recover from the errors so you can continue with the update. I don't understand why it doesn't complete as the GetInfo and EnterBootLoader files both run successfully on it after I've given permission for them to run. So there's obviously a connection between the two. I've unchecked the option for advanced data communication but that hasn't helped. I've searched the various forums and google and found this error listed a lot but no definite solution. Has anyone managed to fix this on their own? |

First, put your device in Bootloader make sure it still says Olinex to make sure it is still hspl unlocked. They may have relocked it. Then make sure all firewalls, virus software, or any other programs are disabled or closed because this error is common when there is something else that is running that shouldn't be. |
Re: Error On Transferring ROM Image
Thanks for the help. The phone was still unlocked and I managed to load a custom rom using a different laptop. [No issues at all on it] I'm not sure what's up with this laptop but I'm gonna reformat it and try again.

Re: Error On Transferring ROM Image
Best way I have found to change to different custom ROM's is by flashing via your SD card. Can have multiple ROM's on one SD card for quick swapping depending on your needs. Check out the thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-tp2-d...2-sd-card.html. Much easier in my opinion, give it a read through

Re: Error On Transferring ROM Image
this happened to me a couple of days ago using the factory data/charger usb cable. i switched to a regular mini usb and it worked fine.

Re: Error On Transferring ROM Image
Yeah, I have noticed a flaky connection between my phone and my computer (mini usb connector or socket) - fortunately no damage, but all my flashes are from the SD card!

Re: Error On Transferring ROM Image
It is all a matter of preference I suppose!! I always flash via usb! =]=] To each their own!
