Opinion please... ROM noob

After running Sprint stock ROM for 8 months - which was fairly stable once I switched to Titanium - I finally decided to try a custom ROM. Started with Mr X's Sense ROM but didn't quite like the icons and the overall "Gothic" dark color scheme, so I reflashed the latest (or so I think) Mighty ROM (6/20/10/). After a day with this ROM I came to realize that even a custom ROM won't make me like Sense.

So, here's my question... there's tons of ROMs out there and I simply don't have time to try them... what ROM should I stick to if I intend to run Titanium on it ? I.e. what ROM would give me the best overall experience (speed and stability) ? Should I just keep the Migthy ROM and simply run it with Titanium, or is there a better choice ?

Well firstly , your in the wrong section . :/ lol . this is a thread that should go into the HTC Touch Pro 2 General forum not the kitchen/ROM forum .

Secondly , i agree with the whole sense issue .

Try VINs ROMs . Everyone here says that is a good one . i personally didnt like it so i cooked my own . mine is userROM . Also i think people mention Medium Hill's ROMs . so those three i would give a shot !

Not trying to sound like an A$$, but what is the best beer????

Point is---every rom that is continually updated is awesome. The small differences in the rom is what makes them the best for YOU. Unfortunately, that means that YOU get to try them out to find what suits your needs. Nobody here can tell you what you like.

Wirelessly posted (htc Pocket PC: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6950SP)

Vin's, Sharkie's, or Lead rom are my suggestions.

Thanks ! I went with MediumHill and so far I am very happy with it - haven't tested MMS yet but everything else is working with no tweaking whatsoever, the thing is fast and responsive, love the new interface (not sure how much of it is 6.5.x vs custom ROM stuff but it's much easier to use overall), the battery life seems very good, and I had over 270mb of free space on a freshly flashed device. I'll keep looking for other Titanium ROMs just in case there's something even better out there but this one is way better than the stock. Thanks to everybody !

Well, thanks for the suggestions !

I tried Medium Hill Titanium ROM, was pretty happy with it until I realized that there was a problem with sound (ringer and built-in speaker too low, car speaker via cable low and uneven, the other party complains that I come through with a strong b/g noise).

So, went to VIN's latest Neodium ROM... and so far it's been great, although I haven't had a chance to test everything yet. But, it's the fastest Sense I've ever experienced, and the memory use is still better than the stock ROM before tweaks. Not to mention that it's also very visually attractive. Thanks for help !

There are lots of great roms out there which you could flash, but having been there I strongly suggest you stick for a bit with stock 6.5 and either run iphonetoday (doesn't use sense so very zippy), or CHT2, and play with each a bit and get to see what it can do , first. After I did that, I was quite, and quickly disappointed with a bunch of alternative roms as they seemed not able to do the obvious. But it is a very individual thing and they all have an important and useful nitch. The trick is to find out what YOU like!!! Go for it!!!

I always like Silence's rom, or the one that was built off his last one, can't think of the name right now. It always ran smoothly, despite being an older build of WM6.5, but this doesn't necessarily mean it was bad.

Yes, some are still fond of the 219xx builds! They are solid!! =]

It's true, there are still a lot of die hard 219XX fans out there! I wish we could have 6.5 taskbars and 6.5.X everything else. That would be hot!

I guess I'm lucky with my 6.5 - seems to be a good-'un....
