I can flash through USB. Instructions somewhere? I assume you use the file (ROMupdate Utility) in the folder downloaded: Energy.RHODCDMA.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.20.

When I did that and followed the instructions, I got: ERROR[260]: CONNECTION

I then tried:

Energy.RHODCDMA.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.20

And it looks like it worked!

Thanks everyone... realize you have probably created a monster here.

wow u flashed one of the exact roms i warned u against, theres more eye candy in that rom than stability, rom and multitasking capabilities.

Oooops, my selection of ROM was based first on the number of visits to the prospective ROM web sites... this crew won out by 2-3fold.

The selection of this particular ROM was based on the fact that I could not get the simpler one to load.

Anyway, I am up and running. So far this looks better than the Sprint product. I have all my programs installed and a backup running, so I guess I can try another ROM and retrace my steps if needed.

Thanks for all the advice. This is not easy.
