QuickGPS stops automatic download
 

I have a Sprint TP2 and runs Mighty ROM on it. QuickGPS was working fine for a long time, but it stops automatic downloading about 2 months ago. GPS data would stay expired for weeks. I can still open the app and press download button to force it to update though. I tried a lot of things but still can't make it work. The bad thing is when the data is expired, the phone can't get a gps fix in google map, bing or igo8 so it's really annoying. Does anybody know how to make QuickGPS back to work again? Many thanks!

I got a message yesterday on my Tilt 2 saying my QuickGPS data had expired and that I needed to update it. I did so and it downloaded fine. Thought nothing of it until I read this post and realized I had never had to do that before. Must be something causing the auto update feature to stop working and it might not be an individual phone issue.

I used to get notifications saying it expired and I should download new data. But now it just stays expired without auto downloading or notifying me. I searched around, then played with different cabs and registry hacks. So far none worked for me.:disgust:

My issue might be different. I looked at the options and Auto Download was unchecked. I didn't uncheck it and I've never been asked to manually update it since buying the phone in June. I rechecked it, so if it happens again then something else is causing it. I'll let you know in 4 days.

The auto download has not worked for me ever since I started using Energy rom. I sure wish there was a fix for this because I have having to updating it manually every week.

worked just fine when I was on BigNdad Maxsense ROM but since moving to EnergyROM, it has not worked.

+3 and +4 on Energy Rom (we have 2 TP2's).

Posted it in the Energy thread, but it didn't seem like others were having the problem so I dropped it.

Interested in a fix.

Is there a TP2 version of quickgps cab available for download somewhere? I looked around in xda and here, but all I can find is old cabs, and none of them work on TP2.

there is a patched quickgps that is supposed to fix this.

No good, once it's installed you can't get into QuickGPS anymore. I just get an error.

Sounds like you may need to Task 29 and re-flash your rom.

did you copy the exe from the zip to the install folder? that is what's been patched, the cab is just included to make sure everything else is as it should be.

I'll give it a shot a little bit later and see what happens. So I'm copying the .reg file over too?

Has anyone else got this to work?

Try this guys.
Take the attached zip and extract the xtra.bin file and copy it to your main Windows folder and your main Temp folder using Total Commander, Resco Explorer, or maybe File Explorer will work.
You will have to overwrite the existing file you have.
Then wait a min.
Then soft reset.
Then try opening QuickGPS and do a manual update.

I had a problem with QuickGPS auto updating when I first flashed from stock to a MightyRom rom. It continued not to function until I flashed to an Energy Rom (Nov 25). QuickGPS auto-update is still working fine.

I did do a Task29 before I flashed to Energy, but didn't when I flashed a MightyRom, so maybe thats what fixed it for me.

It works on my 12.13.10.Plutonium lol (hd2 package without any patching)
I dont know how to fix this,but you guys dont have to wait for 7 days.
1)for examlpe quick gps downloaded @ 12.14.10 8:00 am
2) Set current time (tap on sense clock) 7:55 am and date 12.21.10

Quick gps will show expiration in 5 min
Wait for 5 min and see what happens

same issue on Energy Rom, 7/4/11 final release. Auto download doesn't work. Oh well, download manually isn't a huge deal, considering the benefit of the Energy ROM.

I have used it ever since I stumpled acrossed it and it has worked like a charm.
