Newbie here, just flashed with Neodium ROM and can't connect to gmail.
 

phone is unlocked, flashed it with Nov 26 Neodium ROM,

Gmail settings are:
email address: myemail@gmail.com
incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
account type: imap4 (grayed out so I can't change it)
outgoing: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing mail svr requires authentication: yes
use same name and pw for sending email: yes
require SSL for incoming email: yes
Require SSL for outgoing: yes
Network connection: INternet


It worked for a few seconds. Now everytime I hit send and receive, it will ask me to enter the correct pw and user name.

I followed the instructions from gmail as well. Seems like I did everything right.

Any clue as to what I should try?

Did that 3 times. AND resetting it after each time I delete the gmail account. I just got it to send and receive emails. I didn't change anything. I'm expecting it to pop up with the same screen asking me for my user name and pw any minute.

Oh! One more thing. I didn't know Neodium came with google maps. So I went ahead and downloaded it and installed it. When I went to add it to the quick links, I saw 2 Google maps icons. I went to remove programs and removed google maps. Now the original one that came with Neodium doesn't work. How do I get it back?

reinstall google maps and just put it on device instead of your card.. it should prompt you that it already exists now, overwrite and continue.... should work after that

Tried that many times too. I did install it on the device. It doesn't prompt me that it already exist. Oh well, I can live with having 2 google map icons in the programs list. No big deal.

Back to the gmail problem. I realized what the problem is. The "save password" box isn't holding the check mark. I think that's why it keeps prompting me to enter user name and PW every time I hit send/receive. I recheck it, but it doesn't hold. Any ideas?

for the google maps problem u may need to hard reset because reinstalling and deleting shortcuts and files related to the extra copy probly wont fix it. for the gmail situation i just use activesync or exchange to set that up open activesync and hit menu and then add server source, on the next screen enter youremail@gmail.com and uncheck the box where it says automatically detect settings, hit next and in server address enter m.google.com then it next and ull be prompted to enter ur username and password, once again youremail@gmail.com and then hit next select what u want to sync and then ur done. (dont check tasks or text messages as that does not yet work)

It may happen if you used htc mail setup wizzard.Try to delete acct and use WM setup via start menu>messaging>messaging.

Well HELLO vin255764! Your ROM that I flashed works pretty damn well! THANKS a bunch! Nice artwork, pretty damn smooth. Not as fast as I like, but that's a win mobile issue I'm guessing. BUt still much much faster than my old TP2 with mightyrom. So far on day # 2 using it and no soft reset needed vs. old TP2 that needed 4-5 resets a day. That's all I can tell you for now. I'm a novice when it comes to programing these phones.

Will try that method first and see if I can fix the gmail problem.

New thread because I figure your ROM thread was soooooo long. I figure this way people can see it and help me solve the problem right away. Sorry for the newbie mistakes. Thanks again, your ROM rocks...so far. =)

u dont need to be on the computer to do it. u do it from the activesync on ur tp2 it should be in start>tools or in the sync data tab on sense.

Just tried this too and when the phone tries to log on to retrieve mail it brings me to the screen where it shows my user name, password (now it's blank and still missing the check mark in the "save pw box"), domain, and server. I enter the pw again and check the save pw box...again. The same thing happens. Am I suppose to enter something in Domain? I don't think it lets me.

That is strange...I flashed Neo,tested gmail (send/receive few times),yahoo mail,hotmail,no issues

I did setup like I said earlier by going to start menu>messaging>messaging>Setup E-Mail.Nothing exta,just entered my username and password...

May be reflash the ROM (Im assuming its in your SD card anyways)

Even though I'm a newbie, I've setup up my gmail many times. I can't imagine me forgetting something or screwing something up. When I get to my home PC tomorrow, I'm going to try a hard reset and then set up my gmail again and report back.

domain is not required if u put @gmail.com in the user name field. sounds to me like you need to do a hard reset. lo ud sabe como hacer verdad?

Update on gmail problem.

So I didn't do anything different. I just used the account setup wizard again (for like the 30th time), in addition to the countless times I tried your other methods, and gmail works like it suppose to. STRANGE! No hard reset required. However, I did hard reset it just so I can get rid of the duplicate google maps. Then I setup gmail again with the wizard and all seems fine again. SO all is fixed! THanks!


ONE more problem. I guess as I'm learning to use everything over again in this new ROM I'm coming across minor details. I can't seem to insert a picture when I txt.

When I create a NEW txt msg, I go to MENU. The "insert" is grayed out. =(

When I go to an existing txt msg, I go to MENU>INSERT. Now "picture, voice note, and file" is grayed out.

When I go to the specific picture I want to send in ALBUMS or CAMERA SHOTS,I choose the button that looks like a dot with to arrows point away from it, then MESSAGES. It'll open up a new compose EMAIL screen and NOT a new TEXT msg screen.

I'm sure I forgot to set something up to fix this. What do I have to do? THANKS!
