Multiple calendar sync question
I have two Exchange accounts (that's just the way it is), and NEED to be able to sync them into one calendar on my TP2. I never enter calendar appts on my phone, so I just need to sync the two one way.
Any ideas? This is starting to become a MUST |
Re: Multiple calendar sync question

Re: Multiple calendar sync question
This looks interesting....
As of Activesync 4.x, for some unfathomable reason, MSFT has removed the possibility to sync one device with two exchange servers, or two PC's connected to excahnge servers. This drive me insane when I bought my first WM5 device. But after much googleing, I found a workaround. So, to sync two exchange servers, put this in the device's registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\En ableNonLocalCrossPollina*tion] = (DWORD) 1 This key will most probably be there already, but if it is, its value will be 0. If so, change it to 1. Soft reset, then, setup activesync ON THE DEVICE (If you try setting up on the PC, it will still fail). I'm now syncing an Exchange connected PC with with another Exchange Server directly - work like a CHARM. But this will end up making the 2 exchange account calendars identicle and combine them on my phone, right? I don't want that, I want to PULL the appts from account 1, and sync the appointments on account 2. So...my phone would show a combined calendar, merging account 1 & 2. Account 2 would have the combined calendar sync'd on both my phone and the exchange account calendar. Account 1's exchange account calendar would only show its original appts. That's what I want to do. Yea, that's it |

Re: Multiple calendar sync question
Try syncing both calendars to Google Calendar, then use activesync to sync with your combined profile calendar in Google Calendar.
I had a similar issue trying to sync my calendar and my wife's (she's using a Blackberry 9800) and this was the only viable option. |

Re: Multiple calendar sync question
Well, syncing outlook with google's calendar is messed up. It tells me it's syncing, and it takes a long time for the 2000+ appointments. After, when I checked the online calendar, nothing was there but holidays. I synced again later, and I could see a couple events, but realized that the ones showing were only the events I'd put on my outlook calendar after the first sync. Odd that

Re: Multiple calendar sync question
2000+ appointments? How far back are you looking? How far ahead? You might be better off syncing in smaller chunks - 3 months instead of 6. I know it may not be perfect, but it's a start.
The first sync does take some time, after that it's much faster. I've got mine to sync every 4 hrs and it works fine for me. |
Re: Multiple calendar sync question
I uninstalled the sync ap on the PC and reinstalled. After that it worked.
The calendar is prolly 5 years old. I'm going to give the mobile app a go now. Thank you |
Re: Multiple calendar sync question
Well crap. Is it me or does the mobile device sync with the google calendar via the exchange account? If it does I'm back to square one as I can only sync one exchange account.
What do I have to do? Push all my contacts, calendar, and email to google, and then push google to the phone? I don't want to mix up my emails from the exchange account and the gmail account. I don't want the gmail email on my phone. It also says the tasks won't sync? Am I missing something? |

How about putting all your appointments in 1 calendar and only syncing that account? ;) |
Re: Multiple calendar sync question
I use "gsyncit," outlook categories <--> google multiple cals <--> android multiple cals on the mobile, http://www.daveswebsite.com/
and i use "oggsync," calendar categories on windows mobile <--> google multiple cals <--> outlook categories OggSync - Sync Google Calendar and Contacts with Outlook and Windows Mobile Device Sync (including Microsoft Office) that way no matter which os i've switched between all my cals are up to date. categories talk nicely with multi categories in those two programs. |

Try these steps for calendar and contacts. You should be able to pull email from 1 exchange accounts, so long as you have different email addresses associated with the exchange account. 1. Log into Google Calendar 2. Set permissions for 1 calendar to sync to the virtual Google calendar via email address 3. Set permissions for 2nd calendar to sync to the virtual Google calendar via email address 4. Use ActiveSync to combine both calendars and contacts to your mobile No need to setup GMail on your device. I'm essentially saying the same thing as the Horndoctor is saying. This will enable you to combine calendars in one place, then download the one combined beast. |

Re: Multiple calendar sync question
Anyone who can draw like that can't be all that dull....;)
From what the diagram says, you only want the "extras" - files and such- from your 2nd Server. Perhaps I'm not understanding properly....why can't you use ActiveSync with your 2nd server to swap everything, and only use Google calendar and ActiveSync with server #1? Am I missing something? Another option that I just stumbled upon is to look at what the Brits did. Check this out. Beware, I don't know how exclusive the information will be by Syncing 2 servers, unless you can set one to only push and not pull. To sync two exchange servers, put this in the device's registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\En ableNonLocalCrossPollination] = (DWORD) 1 This key will most probably be there already, but if it is, its value will be 0. If so, change it to 1. Soft reset, then, setup activesync ON THE DEVICE (If you try setting up on the PC, it will still fail). Soft reset then set up activsync on the device? What does that mean? I changed that reg setting, and soft reset, and the user name and domain can't be changed without erasing all the info from that account |
Re: Multiple calendar sync question
I commiserate with you on this calendar issue. I just got a new laptop with Office 2010. there are so many controls and sync options I thought I was in fat city. For example, I thought Outlook would sync with Live (Hotmail) Calendar... well it will bring the Live Calendar down but does not look like I can edit it in Outlook.... and have it sync back to the Live Calendar... and I cannot openly publish the Outlook Calendar...
BTW, I have also learned to my chagrin that 2010 is not searchable by Google Desktop... Buyer Beware |
