Sprint TP2 not Charging at all
 

I saw an older thread or two about this problem, but no solutions. Sorry if my searching skills are weak and I missed something.

Last night, my phone stopped charging completely. It was charging fine the night before, and worked fine all day yesterday. I tried different chargers, (USB to PC, AC, and car chargers) but nothing works.

The only thing out of ordinary that happened was that the phone was completely out of batteries (and shut down) before I got to plug it in.

I was thinking of buying an external battery charger if they're cheap and see if the battery charges that way and I can turn the phone on.

Otherwise, it seems the likely problem is the mini usb port on the phone. Any ideas how to repair this?

I called Sprint and they said since I don't have any coverage, they could only refer me to the manufacturer or have me take it in to a Sprint repair shop.

Any other ideas?

leave it off plug it in the wall and let it charge for 30 mins and then see. might have a bad battery too

Have you always used the same USB cable for the computer/wall/car attachments? If so, try another one.

Otherwise, while being careful not to cause further damage, check out the port on your phone and see if it moves at all when you apply pressure with something like a toothpick or plastic fork piece. It's possible that one or more of the solder joints on the charger port have come loose from the main board. Or maybe one of the metal pins are erroded to the point of not making contact with the corresponding pin on your USB cable.

Make sure the option didn't get checked to not charge the device when connected to the PC. Should be under power settings. I'm currently on the stock ROM, so it's in a completely different location from standard WinMo as they moved a bunch of the setting locations around.

When your battery is completely dead, it sometimes takes a few minutes before the charging LED comes on.

Hook it up to the AC Adapter for a few minutes & see if it starts charging...

Thanks for the replies.

I tried several different chargers/cables with no luck. I'm pretty sure it's the USB port, but it could be the battery.

I called HTC and got an RMA so it should be covered... as long as the fact that it's unlocked and running EnergyROM doesn't void the warranty :P .

I just had a charging problem starting yesterday.
Does your LED light orange as if its charging?

well last night mine wouldn't charge while turned on. The orange LED was on, it showed the plug on the taskbar, and the battery properties even showed charging, but it never went above 5% charge.
I ran it completely dead and then plugged it in. It seemed to charge while turned off so I left it turned off and on the wall charger for 10 hours. After that 10 hours the LED went out. I unplugged & booted it up and the battery shows 60% :(

No, my phone is completely dead no matter what. Yours sounds like a different problem. Maybe a bad battery?

Sounds like overcharging under Android killed your battery...
