Ev to 1X when connected

I am on US Cellular. The past couple of days I have noticed when I make a call, the phone switches from EV to 1X as soon as the call shows connected. I called tech support explaining the problem and they are sending me a phone replacement.

Has anyone had this type of issue with outgoing calls?

This is typical and expected behavior. It's also not surprising that the tech is sending you a replacement phone (although it is sad). EV (or EVDO) is capable of DATA only. When you receive a call and the call connects, your phone goes into 1x mode for the duration of the call. As soon as the call is completed, the phone 'should' go back into EV mode.

Now, if your phone is staying in 1X (an entirely different problem), a little more info in your original post might have been a bit more helpful.

Based on your thread title and your description, however, you aren't experiencing an error and don't need to be worried. As long as it goes back to EV after you hang up you don't need to send the phone back or call tech support.

It does not stay in that all the time. Really just noticed this yesterday. Incoming and outgoing calls do the same as far as going to 1X. I wish the rep would have mentioned that yesterday instead of sending me a different phone.

Well, I do have to give them some credit. I called yesterday morning about this and I received the replacement just a couple of minutes ago.

Like I said. Not surprising that the Tech Support guy didn't mention it. Disappointing but not surprising. #-o
