Tethering in Energy ROM
Hello all,
I have recently switch to NRGZs latest ROM and have a question about USB tethering. I started up Internet Sharing but I don't have an option to select under Network Connections. I've researched and tried a couple of suggestions but none seem to work. I basically need to to show "Sprint" under network connections and then I'll be on my way. Wi-Fi router is not an option here. The desktop PC doesn't have a wireless card. Thanks for your time. |
Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
When I switched to Energy a month or ago, I've had the same issue. I posted to others in the thread but no one seems to use USB tethering anymore, only WiFi. I prefer the USB tethering myself.
I have the same issue... it says waiting on network...then disconnects and does not work. I do not have the option to pick the network either. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone has a fix.. |
Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
It seems with all the previous ROMs I've used, "Sprint" has always been in there. I am enjoying this new ROM but I definitely need the USB tethering. I'll continue to search and post if I find a solution.

Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
energy rom with my diamond had given me problems. eventually, when tethering, I had to change the connection to DATA. That seemed to be it for me. But prior to that, I installed the ICS cab, IOTA update, profile update, etc. And each time I would run those, I could tether, but after a reset I had to do it over. Finally I changed the network to DATA and it worked from that point on. Hope this helps. On my stock TP2 rom, I did the ICS mod where you change the registry.

You guys just need to make sure CMGuardian Service is removed or disabled(I'm guessing it is since your running NRG's rom)and download and install one of the stealth tethering cabs and then soft reset. You should be good to go then. |
Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
U SHOULD FLASH TO 6.1 :evil4:

You could try downloading and running Shaggylive's CMKiller. Try it Here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-mo...st1203597.html |

Buggers.Here is a cab for
Energy.RHODCDMA.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.Sep.20 (I tested this ROM) Cab should work on 21916_NO_Cookie (Not tested) DO NOT USE THIS CAB ON NRG_6.5.X ROM or any other ROM. STEPS: 1*)If you were screwing with REGS,then hard reset 1)SOFT RESET YOUR DEVICE 2)INSTALL ATTACHED CAB Dont forget to hit "thanks button" |
Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
As suggested earlier, I fixed this problem by putting back the sim card.

Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
SIM worked from an old AT&T phone. Actually it was an old Cingular SIM but I don't want to date myself too much. It worked instantly... My TP2 is a USCC CDMA phone but it still works. Thanks for your help!!!!

Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
Anybody have a workaround for the SIM? I have to keep the SIM card out because of Android builds going nuts if there's a SIM inserted.

Re: Tethering in Energy ROM
u cant just take the SIM out before going Android?? just sayin
I thought there were a few workarounds for this issue, could be wrong.. This looks very promising: Why do I need to remove my SIM Card, I need it for my carrier? How do you remove the SIM Card, I can't figure it out for the life of me? The question about SIM Cards seem to come into play a lot. If you are on a CDMA phone, then seriously unless you do lots of travel overseas you don't have a real reason to use the SIM Card, being as it is for GSM networks. I have heard some need the SIM due to they are using their CDMA phone on T-Mobile or something. Which if that is the case, then yes, you probably do need your SIM but you are running on GSM so you need to follow the thread on Android on GSM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997 The rootfs.img that MrPippy modded for us is specifically for CDMA only currently. Hopefully in time I think he plans on merging it into the public one and we won't have to worry. But until then, you need to follow the right thread and such to get it working on your network. So if you are doing CDMA, then remove the SIM and if you are doing GSM leave it in but use a different rootfs.img. http://xdandroid.southcape.org/rootfs/ Keeping in mind that the one from the site listed there will not work on CDMA currently without modification. Some users are having trouble figuring out how to remove your SIM Card. This site has a good walkthrough. Hopefully it helps. http://www.myvusers.com/forums/htc-t...ouch-pro2.html |
