Old School 6.1 ROM Request

Greetings Great Chef’s,

I have been holding out hope for the new version of Windows Phone 7, but based on my read, the initial release will be lacking some features that make it unsuitable for me. So that means I am stuck with my TP2 for a bit longer as I wait for version 2 of WP7. I need to find a way to make this device more stable than it currently is. The main problem seems to be memory leaks. I have tried more than 50 ROMS in my quest for perfection, but still no joy. I can start the day with a nice 90+MB, but by noon with no use at all, I am down to the 30’s. Certainly everyone has different experiences, but this is always the case for me. Some ROMS work great for a week or two, but invariably, I find myself rebooting 2-3 times per day; always when I need the phone to perform well.

So I am looking for a Verizon 6.1 ROM that will hopefully meet my needs. No frills, just speed and reliability. I have a laundry list of items I would like to have included which are listed in the 2nd Post. I understand this takes time to produce and I may be alone in my desire for a ROM based on such an Old OS. I am willing to pay $150 for the finished product if someone is willing/able to create a stable version of what I am looking for.

If anyone wants to take a swing at this, please let me know.

Thank you for your consideration.

Doug M.

How funny. I feel the same way and just stripped down the Stock 6.1 SPRINT rom. Got rid of Sprints crap and left everything else the same. Been using it all night and it feels ok. It doesn't have sense, it has TouchFlo 3.

No bells, no whistles.

I used OS Kitchen to do it, so I thank the people who made that available.

If it stays stable, I may try updating some stock packages from the Stock 6.5 rom, such as youtube, adobe and whatever.

And if it runs good, maybe i'll post it here for anyone who wants a trimmed down Stock 6.1 rom (Sprint).. Probably not too many tho. lol

here is the 6.1 kitchen, that you can build yourself. Follow the instructions in the pdf, it's very simple.

Thanks for the link. I am not much of a chef based on a previous attempt. I'll give this one a try and maybe I'll have better luck.

I tried that kitchen out, but i don't know if it's a Windows 7 thing or me being a noob, but it wouldn't open (as administrator) it just flashed a screen and closed.

I have used envirus kitchen (spelling) and ppck and both those opened just fine.. What to do with them once the prog is open is another story ](*,)

Doug,

Is 6.1 Verizon's most recent OS for their version of the Touch Pro 2?
I updated mine when the lastest version came out and it runs better. I'm thinking it wasn't 6.1 but I may be wrong.

If it turns out that its a higher version than 6.1, I'd recommend just going with the latest as a good starting point.

Best of luck.

You need to disable UAC in Windows7 to use the SprintBasics1.4 kitchen. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts and then choose Change User Account Control settings. Now set UAC to 'Never Notify'. Run SprintBasics1.4 as admin.
