wifi tether suddenly slow?
 

hey guys

i been running wifi tether for about a week with amazing speeds. 1.5 mb / down.

earlier this week ive noticed that it has slowed down to a crawl.

does anyone know why? i havent installed any extra cab's or anythiing.

im considering hard resetting the phone and reinstalling everything, but before i take such drastic measures, is there anything i should checK?

have you tried a soft reset at all? Maybe just uninstall the stealth teather and reinstall before trying a hard reset

stealth tether doesnt affect WIfI Tethering at all.. Stealth only works in conjunction with ICS(USB and BT).. w/ Wifi your on your own..

i still agree with above though, try un-installing and re-installing your wifi app...

The Wifi router is totally different. it uses the you phone as a wifi hot spot. as far as i know its register your data as if you were searching the web on ur phone, cuz it runs off the networks data. assuming you have an unlimited data plan the wifi router is not going to cost u extra. i havent been charged extra yet in many yrs.

I have also noticed a big drop in data speeds in South Jersey. on the phone AND via the wifi router.

yeah me too, im in union county nj. i recently did a speed test and score a 0.59 mb

uhhh, DUH! i was just explaing to people that stealth tether has nothing to do with Wifi is all... i have stickies on tethering, i know the ins and outs...

but i do call bullshit on using Wifi for years lol :) the infamous TomCodon, XDA,HTC whatever you wanna call it wifi router app has been around about a year and a half max i believe.. so you couldnt of been using it for many years.. before that WMWfifRouter(paid or free), WModem, and PDANet were the tools we had to tether with...

and besides stealth tether is really for those telus(or other gsm carriers) people anyways.. Noone from Sprint(or even VZW i think) have been charged for tethering in the 3 years ive been on this site.. and we didnt have that stealth cab back then either anyways.. but whatever makes people feel safe is A-OK! lol :)

i hard reset my phone and reinstalled, and still no bueno :(

many yrs is plural for more then one so 1.5 would fall under those definitions..I still think over 2. Congrats on being around for 3 yrs.I call b.s on that you show a join date of feb 09. lol i got underwear older then that.

May be they did it on purpose,so when you call with slow data complaint they can sell us new 4g lol
