Strange sound problem

Hi, hoping someone here can give me a hand with this.

I've had my TP2 for quite a while and upgraded to WM6.5 (Official Verizon update) and it worked fine (albeit quite slowly) for several months.

Well, now it has stopped making sounds for anything other than a phone call ring.

I double checked in "Sounds & Notifications" and there is a check mark for Events, Programs, and Notifications. I even un checked them all saved and re-checked them to be sure that the setting had gotten cleared, but the check marks were there for some reason.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Tim

Did you have headphones in when the phone rang? simple soft reset fixes that

Clear Storage/Hard Reset will probably fix it.

It may have to do with the audiopara file. Have you installed a tweaked version to try to increase the volume or something? Sometimes those can mess up vibrations and other notifications. Or before you reset try installing the correct audiopara file again. It should be available around here somewhere.

I have reset multiple times and no help. I have not tried a hard reset becasue of it being such a pain to get everything re-loaded.

The really odd thing is that I have not messed with anything as far as tweaks go. The only thing I have done is to install applications on the phone. Nothing that would have messed with the registry (other than to store their own settings) or anything.

Maybe one of those apps did it. You might try uninstalling a few and see what happens. :dontknow:

OK, so how do I go about troubleshooting what went wrong?

(Without wiping my entire device and starting again.)

I would try to remember when you first noticed the issue and see which app(s) you might of installed before or around that time and try uninstalling said app(s) then run a cleaner app like sktools that can clear out leftover and/or invalid registry entries that may still remain. Soft reset after each uninstall and test. Otherwise, a clear storage/hard reset may be in your future as a last resort.

random ideas: if you checked the box to have one volume for ringer and system, uncheck it, set both to max and soft reset. also try new audiopara. if you can't find it, try the attached volume increase cab. it has one. also see if it matters changing the setting via the htc sense setting screen vs the windows sounds and notifications screen.

Thanks! I've been looking around and can't seem to find an audiopara that says it will work for a Verizon TP2 with WM6.5. Also, I was not able to find a cab file attached to your post. :(

Backup and then hard reset. That way you can always get everything back.
