LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

Can someone recommend a GOOD BLUETOOTH EARPIECE for the TP2 that is both comfortable to wear all day and also LOUD so you can hear in places where it isnt 100% quiet? I have tried a LOT of different models and none of them are very loud at all .... and most are not comfortable to wear all day...

Thanks....

I use an Invisio G5, it's comfortable enough to wear all day and loud enough that I have to turn the phone down. The case is also a charger with a battery to recharge the earpiece as needed. About 4-5 hours talk time on the earpiece with another 20 or so hours from the case battery. The case charges off a mini USB, just like the TP2 will. Their customer service is also great.

Only issue is that they are getting rare and hard to find.

I read up on this one and it says it DOESNT have any noise cancellation feature so that wont work for me.

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

it's very comfortable and very loud, has noise cancellation and very affordable. it's basically upgraded from the hang over the ear moto products of the past (h820, h700, 710). i have a plantronics 975, it has better call quality, but hurts after a while.

I did a google search before I posted and they all say H720/721 and they look the same in photos...

i haven't heard of the 721 before now...i've had my 720 for a couple months, it's newer so i'd go with the 721.

Check out the Blueant T1. Here's an Amazon link with some reviews

It also supports audiostreaming.

I'm digging the BlueAnt T1. It may have to replace my Jawbone II. I hate that damn Jawbone!

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

And as always, I vote for the Plantronics Voyager 855 (my 'tooth of choice). I posted pictures and specs in another BT thread a few months back...

Light-weight
sound-isolating earpiece
Stereo/mono by adding/removing 2nd earpiece
Noise-canceling

Only on rare occasions do i get any "echo". It has to be when I am talking to another bluetooth user (perhaps their device is causing the problem).

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

My choice is the Jawbone Icon with a jabra eargel fitted over it (with one of the Icon's round buds under it, or it won't stay on). The Icon is hands down the best headset I've ever used; the eargel makes it tolerable for me and funnels the sound right into your ear. It's lame that you have to buy the eargels separately, but they do help since I couldn't get a good fit with any of the Icon's accessories. You can also get a custom fit eargel from some company (I can't recall the name right now but it'll come up in a web search), but they cost as much as the headset ($80).

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

Voyager Pro is a great headset, but I find it's not loud enough. It's just loud enough, but there have been situations where it hasn't been loud enough for me.

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

I have the G5 as well. While I DO like it I am not fully impressed with it.

it has comfort issues (the tail hurts my ear and I have BIG ears so its not too tight) and its not very good quality (but not bad) or very loud (but again not bad).

Then again that was with my 8330 I have not yet tried it with my TP2 I will try it today and report back.

The best QUALITY headset I have ever used was the PS3 BT Headset. alas no way to make it "stick" in your ear (its a "bud") and oddly NOT very loud at all.

Disappointingly quiet actually. I was expecting it to be LOUD being a gaming headset.

it is VERY good in quality though and battery life is insane. It is VERY comfortable though (not comfortable at all if you lose that ear piece rubber though!!!)

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

so what is recommended as a LOUD and COMFORTABLE ear piece?? I have tried about 10 over the last few years and they either hut my ear, are not loud or have static.... Is tjr jawbone ICON with a custom earpiece the way to go?? the ear pieces come form http://www.averysound.com/as.jawboneicon.html

haus 08-28-2010 04:07 PM

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

Thanks for finding that link, I couldn't remember the name of the company offhand. I would skip the Avery sound ones if the eargels will do. You can get the eargels for $10 shipped off amazon and it's worth trying them before you shell out $80 for the custom one, unless money is no object.

In which case try both and let us know if the Avery ones are really that amazing...I'm curious. :)

The important thing about the eargels with the icon is that they say to put the small plain jawbone ring on first. I tried that but since I use the large eargel, I ended up using the large jawbone ring and it holds the eargel very snug, allowing the sensor to rest comfortably on your face. It takes a bit of time to figure it all out the first time you put it together, but so far it seems to stay put really well. Some people say the eargels don't work at all; I think they may be forgetting that you have to put one of the jawbone rings on first, or the eargel has nothing to grab on to.

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

Can you send me a link to which eargels you are referring to? I might alreayd have them? Also is this ear piece we are talking about LOUD? I have had several units and they claim to be LOUD but they arent. I actually have to push the ear piece closer to my ear so that its loud enough...

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

So far I have not found anything that even comes close to the Motorola HX1.

It has a bone mike - absolutely the best noise cancelling technology. when enabled the normal noise cancelling mike is turned off and only the bone mike will pick up the vibrations from your inner ear whenever you speak. No other sounds will be picked up at all.
It is light weight -
It has an extremely long battery life - I can go several days of regular use before it even suggests that it needs charging
It has voice prompts to tell you what is going on -
It is $69 at Costco -

HOW loud is it?
I just watched a video and the stealth mode sounded bad.. BUT I am told it is really LOUD because of the way it fits in your ear.. how comfortable is it? I found it for around $34 (including shipping) on buy.com and ordered one since I am a NUT for bluetooth headsets trying to find the best one (only way is to try them yourself)

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

I have tried just about every single bluetooth headset out there.
Most of the expensive ones are OK for occasional use. But if you have heavy demands or just want the best, they will not pass muster.

I spend alot of time on the phone during the day giving tech support or calling customers as I travel. During the evening I spend alot of time on a bridge line as part of project work. I have found a few that worked good in some areas and bad in others. I have only found ONE that exceeded my needs in ALL areas.

16 HOURS of talk time. Yes you read right, stay on the blue tooth ALL day if you want.

So loud you could turn it up to it's loudest setting and lay it on the table as a speaker phone.

Noise canceling that ACTUALLY works. I can drive with the windows down, the radio on and talk to my wife and she will ask if I have left work yet.

I have paid over 150 bucks for junk. This costs right at 120 bucks and comes with home charger, car charger and USB cable. You get an ear hook, a neckband and a headband. Leather ear pieces and foam earpieces in different sizes all for the same price. Try getting that good a deal elsewhere.

Sold yet? Check it out!

And no I have no affiliation with the company besides being a customer.

Heres a thought from an every day joe. I do not know about models, nor specs, nor do i care to investigate. I did it the old way. I tried about 5 different ones. Old, tried, and true: You get what you pay for. Jawbone worked the best. Most people could not tell I was on a bluetooth when i spoke to them. Does that mean noise cancelation? I dont know. When people call me, almost instantly I can tell they are on a bluetooth. Can you say annoying?! Jawbone did the job for me. Do not know, name or model, i threw the packaging away.

OP: http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-Eargels-.../dp/B003C7E3NI

They aren't "for the Icon" like the listing says, they are just the eargels with the rubber tabs in back (apparently there's another style that doesn't have the tabs and won't stay on, so you do need the correct ones). In the old days Radio Shack sold them but I don't think they do anymore.

It is the only earpiece that I can hear with and people can hear me on even when I am in a night club next to the speakers. (did that just for fun) I don't have a problem using it while driving or at the airport. The only thing is You have to try and figure out when the best time to use which mike is. usually when someone says "what" once then I switch to the other mode. The normal mike sounds the best and the noise cancelling actually works pretty good, but when the ambient noise gets too high it tries to cancel out too much noise and gets muffled. Switching to the bone mike solves that.

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

OK so I bought the HX1 ear-piece.. its LOUD but not as loud as I want and still hard to har when it is NOISY... I have a bunch of other ear pieces.. two of them stand out .. the SOUND ID (loud but not comfortable and I cant wear it too long)... BUT the best ear piece in terms of VOLUME is the plantronics discovery 650. BOY is thing LOUD and COMFORTABLE.. I have had it for years.. the only issue is that there is TOO MUCH STATIC so I cant use it and people have a hard time understanding me. So, is there something as loud as the PLANTRONICS DISCOERY 650?? its very loud!

I expected the motorola HX1 to be be louder based on how it sits in your ear.. it isnt.. HOWEVER, I will say it is the best sounding ear piece as no one knows I am on an ear piece...

Read the review on AMAZON and it says its not loud enough... Let me know how you like the HX1. I am not liking it too much... I have both the ear spring pieces and the other ones with the ear loop.. Its hard to get a comfortable fit you can leave in all day. Also, I figured that since it goes into your ear different then most other models, it would be LOUDER.. it isnt very loud.. that old plantronics unit I have is 10X louder (just too much static to use anymore - It was one of the first ear pieces I had)..... Maybe someone else who has the HX1 can chime in.. can you wear it all day? is it loud enough for you?

Thanks..

nerys 09-04-2010 12:04 AM

Re: LOUD and COMFORTABLE BT Earpiece?

hmm I kind of expect the HX1 to have less power. this will allow longer battery run - too loud that far into the ear can start to get liability dangerous.

With that much isolation loudness should not be too much of a problem for me. my primary issue has not been so much can I hear them but them hearing me (geo metro no air so its rather loud :-)

sounds good but I just can't see paying $80 for an eargel I will probable lose within a month. Ouch :-)
