Fastest ROMs out there!

I have a Verizon TP2 running the latest Mighty ROM, and although it is faster then stock I was wondering if there is anything faster. I have heard people say that WM 6.1 with Sense 2.1 is a lot faster.

If this is the case does anyone know where I can get an older Mighty ROM using WM 6.1? Or, any other fast and stable ROM for that matter. I don't need goobs of apps, just fast performance.

I've had some pretty good experiences with MR.X ROM. It's fast and looks better than stock.

Why not overclock and see if that gives you what you are looking for (speed plus a ROM you like).

Xda did a miracle again with unlocking the dreaded msm7xxx cpu clock frequency. Give it up to the devs over there. I have tried almost all the roms here and found out MaxSence is junk and slow. And mightyrom is very well done and fast. I recently switched to M.X rom and noticed it rivals and surpasses mightyroms rom by a slight margin. So i have been running it for the last week and love it. I also overclocked my tp2 to 768mhz. And its the most noticable tweak out there.

I would say the rom I'm running but ur on verizon so it might not work. on a side note I don't get how anyone could be on verizon, ur paying $30-40 more for the same services u get on sprint.

:wave:Energy Rom. (See Sig) <--- Still running same version. I'm too scared to change and have to revert back. A lot of work ya know.

Need to try this Overclocking deal everyone is talking about though.

sprint doesn't have the coverage that verizon does. thats a main reason. i dont know one person with sprint here in panama city, fl. They dont even have a store here cause their coverage is no good.

I thought that too about maxsense, but I didn't give up on it, now that I have my settings figured out I don't need to overclock anymore.

Deleted analog and digital clocks.

Set Activesync not to autostart (disable notification repllog start when time change)

Did the start menu removal.

Now I boot at 56% free (105MB I believe), which is near where I was with 6.1/2.1 and all the cabs.

on my way to atl back in april (had tp1 with weaker antenna) i only dropped to 1x for 50 miles at the most and roaming for 20 miles at the most and those 20 miles were a blast zone where cellphones aren't allowed anyway. so I'd say that's great coverage and the coverage map is about the same as vzw.

omg! best tweak eva! All the tweaks on the world help the tp2. But overclocking it makes the most impact and most noticable changes ij performance.

LMAO! Ok.

Sure you had good signal with Sprint, because you were probably on a major highway or interstate, and near metropolitan areas. That's where Sprint covers. I live in a rural area, and the only coverage I have is Verizon, through the Alltel merger. Your coverage map comparison is way off.

lol... Umm from Chicago to Atlanta, think again. Drove from Chicago to Tallahassee, I dont remember losing service at all.

Re: Fastest ROMs out there!

I cant complaint on Sprints signal. I had verizon and never dropped calls. Then switched to Sprint and exactly the same results. No signal loss and exact coverage but alot less expensive. And a plus on 4g signal.

Re: Fastest ROMs out there!

well i must say i have sprint also and in the rural area where i live the service is crap, i loose service all the time and and im on roaming more the 70 percent of the time... its a good thing that roaming is free.... im thinking about switching soon, the only reason i havent done it yet is because of the price difference.

You do realize that Sprint roams on Verizon right? I can tell you this, when we come to Panama City for vacation (I live in TN) I have great coverage on my Sprint phone (albeit roaming).
If you get a Sprint plan that has unlimited roaming, you will be in good shape. My SERO has unlimited roaming, and I never have signal problems when we are in Panama City or PCB.

Dont want to burst your bubble, but you can see the coverage maps yourself on www.verizonwireless.com and www.sprint.com
But, here I done the work for you and snipped the graphics:
If you look at the gray area for Sprint you will notice its almost exactly like Verizons coverage....hence the roaming :)

So really, Sprint customers that have roaming packages get Great Sprint speeds when on the home network, and also have the benefit of roaming on a fairly large voice/data network that Verizon has....all while avoiding the super sized rape-tool that verizon lays upon its customers.

I also use sprint service and agree with u that sprints roaming map is nearly identical to verizons coverage.

However, it has been said in other threads about people being booted from sprint for roaming too much, which apparently is written into the contract.

Back on topic, I use the the stock Sprint 6.1(build 21052) with touchflo 2.1. I use Goodthings2life tweaks cab and about a dozen or so Reg edits. My rom runs really smooth with great speed. I boot up at 38% ram usage. I use the device for days (use is moderate/heavy at times) without a soft reset and only ever see the ram go into the 60's.

Tweaked Stock rom is stable/fast/no hassle

Re: Fastest ROMs out there!

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I decided to try the overclocking tip and it definitely seems to help. I am using the OC_Auto3.mscr script. Can anyone explain the three speed settings on the script?
Start_Speed = Clock speed during bootup???
Boost_Speed = Clock speed during normal use???
Safe_Speed = Clock speed during stand-by???

Is this right?

I think Blackout Rom is the fastest ROM. I just wish a chef was actively working on the windows 6.1 / Sense 2.5 combo. It's lethal for speed and functionality combined.

ya but you do realize us sprint users roam of verizons towers for no extra fee. lol so we still get same coverage you do even in your area and pay way less. just a fyi

duh...lol. yea...i know. just like we use your towers too. doesn't change the fact that sprint phones or the prl isn't doing a good job of it here in panama city. i can be standing right next to someone with a sprint phone and they have 0 bars (barely hanging on for dear life) and i have 4 or 5. New troops get stationed here at the air force base i'm at all the time and a lot of them have sprint and within a couple weeks, they have to go to someone else. I would have gone to sprint years ago if this wasn't the case.

Re: Fastest ROMs out there!

Most WM Sprint phones can be "forced" to roam. This may help in an area with poor Sprint coverage.

which could be DECENT at best for phone calls, probably won't drop but you will be asking "can you hear me now" lol. And if you want to connect to data it will be 1x, thus slow compared to normal.

FYI im on sprint and im satisfied. It's just you probably won't have verizon quality service, but it is service none the less for a nice price cut.

Re: Fastest ROMs out there!

LOL @ the sprint vs verizon flaming war I started. didn't think that would happen. anyway my rom is the sprint basics rom which is based of 6.1 build 21057. its very stable and performs quite like the stock rom (tho never used it longer than 10 mins so don't really know) flash in IE also works better than the stock rom I believe. boots with 108mb ram, never rises out of the 70s and returns to 50s after use. longest I've gone without a soft reset is 50 hours would be longer if it weren't for sense 2.1 freezing. only thing I ask for is a working sense2.5 cab, the 2 I found have caused issues that require a hard reset to fix.

hold on wait.. ive seen you bragging about this rom for awhile now.. bashing 6.5 roms for all kinds of things.. namely a Memory Leak.. but your ROM boots at 108 and steadys at 55mbs roughly after usage.. ummm wherd your 53mbs of memory go man???

and if 50 hours is all you can boast without a soft reset, thats nothing to brag about either.. dude, ive gone weeks without my devices freezing up on me... I have 3 Touch Pro 1s that I dont think ive had to soft rest in Months and all they do is tether Non-Stop and play DVDs on Coreplayer..

My TouchPro2 - gets soft reset on the rare occassion I install something new.. thats about it.. like i said ive gone weeks without freezing.. on Mighty, NRG.. right now im on day 4 of medium hill and i havent had to soft reset since after Sashimi and my automated stuff ran completed.. Actually im quite impressed with this medium hill ROM-not bad for a chef i just decided to try randomly out of boredom..

vin 8/5 no-cookie plus overclock.

also, just to chime in on the sprint/vzw thing.

sprint is just sprint+verizon for a cheaper rate. it's the best thing since sliced bread. been traveling all across the western part of the country roamin all over vzw and whoever...5 bars everywhere. my friend with ATT and t-mobile can't even get a GPRS signal 95% of the time. free roaming ftw.

needless to say sprint has one more new happy customer after this trip.

the latest maxsense rom the 7-25 whatever isnt slow on my phone at all in fact its the only rom i have ever used that has given me 4 days without a soft reset. i love energy roms too but this one is definitely a keeper. i might also add that i am overclocked to 768. im sure that has something to do with it as well.

I meant the 50s as in % used which is between 85 and 90mb this is the amount max that I got on any 6.5 rom, then it would hover in the 70s or 80% range for no reason after use (dell axim x51v amount of RAM) which is unacceptable, shortly after that i would get a freeze and need a soft reset. ive had to soft reset maybe 2-3 times a day on 6.5 roms, now its about 2-3 times a week at max. since ur tethering all the time u arent really using the device which doesnt really count so of course there isnt a chance for it to freeze because its basically idle. only time i leave my device idle is when im watching my spanish telenovelas, sleeping,on the pc ,at school or at work. so try again.

i tether 30gbs a month.. thats a GigaByte/Day... thats just my usage, my bandwith usage would be about serveal times that.. Id say my phone is MORE prone to lockups, if it was gonna happen, than just randomly running apps all day..

there's no ram being used during tethering and I suspect that the internet in MI must be slow.

Mr. X Rom, I think it's faster than Mighty and it has basically the same apps cooked in with neater start menu organization.
