Voice command/custom buttons

After OC I'm back into using my phone for what it's worth and the last thing to conquor is voice command. It says to ppress and hold the talk key and a mike icon will come up, at which point you can vocally demand things from your phone. Problem is, long ago I custom mapped the talk key hold to rotate the screen as the sensor sucked at this.

Now I've forgotton how to custom map a key. Or is there an icon for the mike I can map as a widget?

Little help please, it's the last thing I don't know how to use on my phone

Re: Voice command/custom buttons

Go to Start\Settings\Personal Settings\Buttons\Program Buttons Tab and assign Voice Command to the Send key.

OK, this isn't working at all because I'm an idiot. If I change anything it won't let me exit and says each button has to be assigned a unique command. The only one I've custom mapped is rotate screen and even when I put that back it says the same thing. I can't get out and have to soft boot

Are you running WM6.5? If so, lots of things have changed. I still hunt for settings that were easy to find in 6.1.

Re: Voice command/custom buttons

I can not assign voice command to the send button. I reconfigured the send button to rotate the screen a long time ago. Now when I go into personel:buttons, I get stuck there. There is one custom key assignment, "Send key(Hold)" is set to "rotate screen". I change it to "voice command" and hit OK... I get

"Each program button must have a unique button assignment. Please select a differet button assignment."

I can't change ANYTHING, if I do I get this message. Even when I set back to "rotate screen" for the first custom button I get this message. No matter what everytime I hit "ok" I get this message. The only way to get back is to reboot

Re: Voice command/custom buttons

Here is a workaround...sort of.

Copy Voice Command.Ink from \windows to the start menu folder in \windows. Rename that shortcut to Long_End.Ink and copy it back to \windows. Now holding the END key activates voice command.exe. To revert just delete Long_End.Ink in \windows and soft reset.

There is no file called voice command.ink in the windows folder on my phone. There is a file called voice command with no extension, and andother called voicecommand with no extension. Properties calls them shortcuts. Are these ".ink" files? Please forgive my ingnorance.

The start menu folder has 2 folders and no files in it. Am I in the right place?

Apologies for my ignorance

Yes, .Ink files are shortcuts...I use total commander instead of file explorer, as it shows the extensions and has many more functions. Use total commander.
Yes the start folder will be a good place to copy Voice Command.Ink, not voicecommand. Then just finish following the instructions in my last post. It works for me.
