Playstation 3 & TP2 As a USB Storage Device?
 

When I first got my ps3 i used to be able to use my phone as a usb device when connected to the ps3 no problem and copy files over to my ps3. I had now all of a sudden im unable to do this and i have no idea why not? did a ps3 update cause this or something? is anyone able to do this still with their ps3 and tp2? it works fine if i plug my phone into the computer but for some reason not on the ps3

Yeah, there was an update last year that killed this function. I used to do that all the time with my Mogul.

It sill works for me but only sometimes and usually only if I have the don't ask again box checked.

ima give that a try when i get home i ordered a brand new 16gb microsd becuase i thought my card was screwed but im still having the same issue im pissed because i use that feature to add music and pictures that i take on my fone. Im going to try ur way and see if that works

Sony killed it with one of their updates. It was to prevent people from modding their PS3s.

Stop saying it doesn't work. It actually seems to be working better than ever today.

You are 100% correct. I haven't tried this in a while. It only sees the SD card?

Well I've never tried to recognize anything but the SD card but it probably wouldn't work in activesync mode due to no drivers.

how are u getting it to work i just plugged mines up and nothing is reading it this is a brand new memory card i just got yesterday and fresh off of a soft reset

Did you put in in disk drive mode and check the don't ask again box before plugging it in?
The card is formatted?

Yes the card is formatted and i went to settings - connections - usb to pc - and selected disk drive and i took the check out of the box where it says "Ask me irst about USB connection type when I connect the device to the PC"

and then when i plug into the ps3 nothing happens. I formatted my sandisk 16gb yesterday, brand new out the box and everything but the ps3 wont read it, i had a card before this one and it wouldnt read that one either

In that case could be the mini usb cord, even though all mine look the exact same to me only some work with the ps3. I test them by seeing if it will charge the controller without stopping when I move it around. Half do half don't even though they all work on the pc. Then again like I said sometimes it just doesn't seem to work until multiple tries.

ok well the cord im trying now charges my ps3 controller but wont read the memory card, i have a few different cords ill give them all a try as well

Edit: tried a few of the cords i had and nothings working

Are you sure your sd card has the folders labelled properly for the ps3 to read?

Music picture video etc?

it works for me, only if i plug it in a comp first select disk drive from the menu so it defaults there when i plug it into the ps3. otherwise it says unknown device even if i change it from activesync to disk drive once plugged in.
