I have a similar problem more recently, where after a period of time the wifi router button on the comm manager greys-out and my connection drops... only a soft-reset fixes it. very random and relatively new issue. No major changes to my setup of late so I'm lost as to what the cause is.

I found, part of the problem for me was wifi router defaulting the "phone as modem" connection for internet. You have to use the "sprint" connection, so it looks like the data usage is coming from a phone ;)
