Life after TP2
What is everyone gonna update to after there done with the TP2. Are you gonna get one of the current models on shelves now or are you gonna wait til the end of the year to see what comes out.

Re: Life after TP2
I'll see what's available late this year through mid-next year. From what I've read of WP7, it's probably not going to excite me. I can see using my TP2 for another year.

Re: Life after TP2
I was considering the Evo, however, the no keyboard thing has always turned me away. Samsung Epic was also an option, but not very fond of Samsung devices. I think for now I'll just stick with my TP2. Seeing as how I can overclock and run Android when I want, I think that'll be enough to hold me over until something I really like comes along. Maybe we can get an Evo with a keyboard lol yeah right.

Re: Life after TP2
just being able to get your hands on a EVo is hard so Evo with a keyboard dont see it happening. LOL

Re: Life after TP2
Im thinking of Epic 4g but been hearing alot of rumors of newer phones coming out by the end of the year. Only thing is the new phone i get has to have a keyboard not to fond of writing full emails on the softkey.

Re: Life after TP2
Thinking about the Samsung Galaxy S or the HTC Desire...those are the only Android phones at USCC worth the upgrade. Leaning towards the Galaxy as chainfire is working with it and I imagine his support will be much more worth my time compared to the Desire. I know MM is on the Desire, but I think Chainfire will make it easier for me to mod my phone.
Of course the other option is to jump carriers, but I save $20-30$ a month versus any other carrier before the $10 data add on from sprint. |
Re: Life after TP2
anyone know of phones that are going to be released by the end of the year. Ive heard verizon is gonna have to a world phone and DROID 3
|
Ive always owned a pda with full keyboard. That was the min requirement for any new pda. However the specs of the Evo were just too tempting. Ive been a winmo since the ppc6700 and since then I thought I coulnt live w/o a hardware keyboard.
But after going to android and getting the Evo on launch day, I can say this phone has changed those feelings. I was extremely worried about sending emails and txtin on the Evo. I always HAD to have a full hardware keyboard but the EVO didnt have any problems in this area at all. The screen is so big that the keyboard in landscape is like having a hardware keyboard. It only took a week or less and I was typing just as fast on my Evo as my TP2. In fact, this reply is being done right now using 4g on my Evo while being on hold on the phone. |
TP2 was and is an amazing phone, I really never thought I would leave winmo. But I have to admit, now that Im using android with Sense, Itll be highly unlikely that I ever go back to winmo.
Plus im still amazed that Im able to compose emails and txt just as fast as I did on my TP2. |
Re: Life after TP2

Re: Life after TP2
Its not a keyboard app its THE keyboard app ( atleast thats my opinion and as you know opinions vary) it basically allows you to "swype" ur finger across the keys of the keyboard and figures out what word you were trying to type , thereby saving you the hassel of poking at each key seperatly.
There are multiple cabs in the forum here check it out and see if u like it. check out this vid to see it work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTooB...eature=related |
Re: Life after TP2
There is Swype 2.0 and Swype 3.9xxx I like both, but there seem to be more theme skins for the 2.0, but 3.9 has a SWEET GTX theme. You can have it learn words. Type a username and then press space and it will be saved into the memory and when you swipe in that general area it will load the name, as with my username it helps ALOT.

Re: Life after TP2
Just found the cab for it, it's awesome. I can see it taking some getting used to but my initial response was good.

Re: Life after TP2
I never thought I would leave Winmo but the Evo was too tempting and switching to Sprint would save me $50 a month for my 1 line bill. So...I did it. Haven't looked back. I expected to sacrifice coverage a little bit, but to my surprise Sprint is actually better in my area. I type just as fast on the on-screen keyboard and Android really stomps Winmo! Wow, Android just flat out works and I haven't rooted or flashed my phone, just straight outta the box with some apps added on. An Android Marketplace is awesome! The TP2 is a great phone, and by far my favorite Winmo phone. I actually just dropped in the TP2 forums to see what was goin on in here these days, and saw this thread. Been on the Evo for 3 weeks now.

Re: Life after TP2
Some of you may find it shocking..but I'm probably getting an Epic 4G :P
Also..there is no Droid 3..its called Droid Pro... That said I do not particularly see much Androids phones coming end of this year due to most manufacturers will be selling their WP7 phones... So far out of all the phones I've seen in the leak..in benchmarks the Galaxy S still beat those phones even though they were clocked with faster processors >.> I hardly see ghz giving us much advantage at this point till they all go Cortex A9 in 2011 and/or 32nm...thats when the real benefits start rolling in... Till then I could easily see the Epic 4g be competitive with all the latest stuff or at least a year.. |
Re: Life after TP2
Well currently I am feeling out a couple of different options. May actually consider grabbing up them all (I am a nerd, so phones are like pokemon...gotta catch 'em all, lol):
Dell Streak (T-Mobile) Google Nexus One (T-Mobile) HTC HD2 (T-Mobile....will setup for Android) HTC Evo (Sprint) HTC Incredible (Verizon....will mod to Sprint) HTC Gold W (Sprint, WP7) Samsung Epic (Sprint) Yes, I do realize that some of these phones have been out for a while and might be considered old now, however...If I ain't used it, then it is new to me :) Also might grab up an Archos 5 (Android) for the Car (will be nice with the Mac Mini and the Monitors (plus a 7" in the dash)....ultimate car entertainment system right here, lol) |
Re: Life after TP2
I got a BB Bold. i am trying to sell mine now. i only had it for 4 months. if the iPhone ever comes to Verizon i will try and get it by the summer time i guess

Re: Life after TP2
I'm still looking forward to life after TP2. Sprint and keyboard loyal = Epic 4G for me and my brother. We're kinda psyched. Hope they announce something soon now that Droid 2 is officially this week. Makes me think Sprint might announce something in within a day or two.
|
Re: Life after TP2
Hopefully Sprint does because not only is DROID 2 official this week but DROID 3 by the end of this year.
