facebook issues??
 

Is anyone on here having facebook issues?? since yesterday I have had issues where the latest facbook APP will log in and then does not do anything.. Also, in SENSE, I can get all of my contacts updates etc but NO facebook photos for the contacts.. I can see the photos from the contact if I remove the link in the contact to facebook and then re-link them.. BUT when I go to the 1st tab in the contact where it shows the contact info, there is no photo..

any ideas??

there seems to be a issue on facebooks side with syncing contact pics and whatnot

I also just noticed the 1.6 facebook TAB for Sense does the same thing....

This is very weird... I havent had any of these issues with the tab or the app.

I cant even authorize for access.. I try to login and it just says "sussess" and doesnt give me the code. This is if I do the external browser auth.. if I do the internal auth.. I login and get success and then it freezes the phone...

When it says success the URL in the browser is the code. U have to select and copy the browser URL then go back to the facebook tab to paste & authorize

EDIT: Im referring the option 2 of authorizing with the browser not internal

never got that far.. BUT I set it to show advanced options and changed the authorization type to DESKTOP and then it worked...

HOWEVER, it also doesnt sync the contact photos.. all of my FB contacts do NOT have photos

GUYS - I have come to the conclusion that there might not be a facebook issue but a problem with my phone. I am on 6./20 mighty.. today all linked facebook contacts no longer show the photo.. HOWEVER, if I go to edit the contact, click where the contact photo is and SELECT photo from facebook, the photo is there.. I save the contact and the photo isnt there.. how do I fix this??

U could Task29 & give another ROM a try.
U could Hard Reset & see if that works. or
U could Task29 & ReFlash MightyROM

Thanks but I want to find a solution that doesnt involve re-flashing or a hard reset.. someone must know.. I asked over at the mightyrom thread...

The good news is that id you have the same issue., then I know its not something I did and I almost KNOW its a facebook issue....

I cant even run the FACEBOOK app (1.2).. it logs in but freezes saying CHECKING FOR DATA OR LOGS in but the news feed just spins... I heard there was a new version coming out.. WHY does facebook change things that mess up everyones phones and software!

tried flashing to stock just to see and still nothing...


Edit : GOT IT!!!!! OTA seems the only thing not working, I updated my facebook tab and then turned on my wifi and BOOM there they are all updated!!! kinda seems like the same issue sprint was having with the weather updating

I am confused.. are you saying I can update VBIA WIFI and I will get all my contact photos backl? I cna update facebook and get the statusm events etv via OTA but not the contact photos.. also the facebook 1.2 program doesnt work at all. it connects and then I get a spinning cursor forever...

as soon as i connected wifi all the contact pics updated and the facebook tab on nrg 8/6/10 rom updated

I just tried it with DATA OFF and WIFI ON. Didnt updatr the photos...

I created a new contact, then linked it to facebook.. photo didnt come up... then went into the contact, edited it.. Clicked to select photo... I see the choice for FACEBOOK PROFILE AND I scan see the photo.... I select that and the photo doesnt save into my contacts... any ideas??

ALSO when you link the contact, on the left of the name where the photo should be, all you get is the silhouette and not the photo.. I really wonder if there is an issue with FACEBOOK and SENSE

Just sent an email to HTC to see what is up..

HOWEVER, I bet this is a FACEBOOK ISSUE.. WHY DO I THINK SO? Because the microsoft facebook 1.2 application doesnt connect correctly .. it connects and then I get the SPINNING CURSOR which BLINKS and it never finishes.. I can move around TABS and EXIT, so the program isnt frozen...

Just testing something....


I changed my facebook profile photo (using my windows XP PC) and it brought my NEW profile photo over to the phone.. BUT it doesnt bring ANY of my contacts that are linked....

Any ideas?

i have had sort of the same issue for a long time...

some of my fb contacts pictures are present, some are not. if you remove the fb link to the contact, then go back into link contact to fb account, hit REFRESH and wait while it updates... then select the contact the picture should be back.

crappy part is you have to do it for each contact.

it seems to me (not sure if it is fb or windows) that the fb friends that are not linked to a contact account on your phone update fine. the pictures of contacts that come from fb do not...

just my experience.
it sucks.


the other thing i have noticed is when i click to view a contacts FB Online Photo Albums, a lot of them it just says "user does not have any albums" and i know that is not true...

didnt work for me but NOW my phone randomally erase the WINDOWS DIRECTORY and hard reset (2nd time)

Something more strange... I had my TP2 CRASH so I used and SPB backup to restore my phone to Saturday.. when it was done.. SOME of my contacts now HAD FACEBOOK PHOTOS and OTHERS DIDNT.. I then UNLINKED MY ACCOUNT FROM FACEBOOK and RE-LINKED THEM and now AGAIN, all the contacts dont have any photos.. even EVENTS had photos and now they dont.. is there maybe a corrupt data file I can delete to fix this?

I have to log in every time I use the app. Anybody else have this problem? Is there a fix for this?

Well as of right now, I was able to reload the facbook APP from the app store onto the MEMORY card and that one works (the one cooked into the rom doesnt). I am also able to connect to facebook on SENSE and I can get updates of events and contact STATUS but it doesnt save contact photos.. I did find a program that does this seperate from facebook.. its in the app store

OK here is an update.. my phone rang and one of the contacts that doesnt show the facebook photo came up with the photo while phone was ringing.. HOWEVER.. once I answered the phone,, the contact photo was gone.... HMMM... any ideas on this?
