Wirelessly posted (htc Pocket PC: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

That taskbar looks like one of Spike's taskbars. Look over on xda.
I think you are looking for the Personalizer App to change the logo.
Good Hunting!

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

yea im aware of the personalizer app, but as far as i know, it only changes the text of the network carrier on the left to any custom text, but im really interested in removing the verizon logo on the right.

and i'll look around for spike's taskbar, see what i find. thanks

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

wow thanks so much, found it :D
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522080

now...how to install it? i dont believe i have any custom roms on my HTC, it has the rom version 3.04.605.3 though.

it said it works best on Dutty's XT Final ROM's, is there really a reason to use these ROMs other than to change the interface? cuz i really like the original HTC interface and dont want to change anything except the task icons up top.

also, why does it say:
Quote:

June 7thHere are the 3 main icon changes & Battery Reg-Fix,
uninstall the taskbar you have on your HD, then install the new one,
what does HD refer to? the HTC HD series, meaning this is not compatible with HTC TP2?

thanks for the help, noob at work here.

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

do i need a hombrew/custom rom to use spike's toolbar?

edit: just realized..it's only for WM6.1 :(

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520547 i guess this is the only alternative..does anyone have the V5 of the battery bar handy?

Although V6 is for HD2 users, I think it should be compatible for any WVGA Devices using WWE ROM's so it should work on Touch HD, TP2 and Diamond 2.

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

since you are using a Verizon phone but on AT&T not really sure what ROM you are running...

if you are running stock vzw 6.1 looks for "Spike's McNeo ... moddified by MightyMike" for the taskbar.
if you are running stock vzw 6.5 check out my thread here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=131802

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

hmm this is very weird, so when i soft-resetted, while it was loading HTC TF3D it shows the speaker symbol but then when everything loads up it either changes between nothing showing up, a few sets of parallel lines or as the image below shows, a bunch of weird images.

http://j.imagehost.org/0453/HTC.jpg

how would i uninstall this theme? or at least fix the speaker symbol cuz it's quite annoying..is it because this device was from verizon (originally CDMA [global]) but i downloaded a GSM theme?

i will try your theme mod once i can uninstall this theme :) and still always looking out for registry edits/programs that can remove that big ol verizon sign.

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

This might be more work than you want to do, but there's a surefire way to fix that verizon logo and any other graphic that annoys you. Basically you learn how to put custom graphics on the phone using CFC-GUI. It's a little work but once you get it, it's easy and you can make everything look exactly the way you want.

Guide is here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88077

In a nutshell:
- copy (Not move!) all the files that are named XXXXXXXX_manila (no extension) from your windows folder to a folder on your computer. Let's call it TP2files. The X's will be sorta random letters and numbers, e.g. 2255a6fd_manila. It's normal for it to take a long time to view the contents of \windows, it might have 9000ish files in there, and there are over 2000 manila files. Sort them by extension on your computer so you can easily highlight them all and copy.

- Download and install cfc-gui:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470798
You'll need to register to get the attachment on that post. It's worth it.

Select folder - choose the TP2files folder where you copied all those manila files. It'll scan them all for a while. Now you'll see a long list of image files on the left, and a preview of each image on the right.

- Find the verizon logo in the list on the left. It should be in there somewhere, probably under "other" at the bottom. It helps to know the size of the logo. Unfortunately the size of the image might be larger than the size on screen, and the phone just crops part of it. Looks like it's about 64 pixels wide though so I'd look at all the 64x__ sized images.

- Once you find it, fire up photoshop or some other image editor. Make a new file whose size matches the size of the logo (so if it turns out it was a 64x64, that's what your new file should be). Save it as a .png filetype. Now you just need to make it 100% transparent. In photoshop you'd go to the layers palette on the right, right click the background layer, convert to a regular layer, then ctrl+A to select everything, tap delete on the keyboard. Save it somewhere (doesn't need to be with your TP2 files).

-Back in cfc-gui, highlight that verizon logo (the manila file on the left that shows the verizon logo on the right) and click the replace with button at the bottom right. Choose the transparent PNG you made. Takes just a second to convert.

What you've just done is modify ONE of those 2000 manila files. The specific file will be named in CFC-GUI... just look under the preview window where it gives info about the file. The name of the file is listed after "image". Let's say it's 6677134D_manila.

- Browse to your tp2files directory and use the windows search function to search for, say, 66771 ...that should be enough to narrow the search down to one result. Highlight that one file and copy it to your phone. But you want to copy it onto the storage card, not directly to the windows folder. Then get on your phone and fire up file explorer (or you might need total commander... install it, it's worth it). Find that _manila file and now move it to your windows folder. Windows will ask if you want to overwrite the original file. Choose yes. To see the result, you need to restart manila. You can just soft reset your phone, or a slightly faster way (for me anyway) is to go to the setting where you can change your home tabs. Add or remove any tab and it will restart manila.

That verizon logo will be gone (replaced with a nice transparent .png ...maybe later you could replace it with a custom image of your choice. And you can start playing with other stuff like the clock, the tab icons, etc.

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

wow ive never seen such a extensive post in a long time, thanks a lot, i'll give it a shot and see how it goes :D

one quick question, since on windows 7 when i open up my phone's memory, "/", it doesn't show the windows file so should i copy the manila files from total commander onto my memory card, then onto my computer? and...im wondering, could this also be used to my advantage for possibly fixing the problem i had with the missing/screwed up icon on the taskbar for "Pegasus Dusk Theme"?

again, thank you so much, means a lot!
