RAM usage Too high after CHT
First the basics
1. Sprint TP2 6.5 2. ROM - Mighty ROM 3. CHT 1.8.5 and CHT Editor 1.8.5 My Memeory usage has gone upto 71%, my sense is not very fluid and has a log when I drag and move. Before CHT the memory was at 58-59%. Is there a way to optimize that? Will really appreciate any advice. |
Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.7 (WindowsMobile; PPC; Opera Mobi/35267; U; en; Presto/2.1.1))
i had the same issue i ended up removing that application. memory usage was waay to high but i love the app jus too much memory used |

This was the reason I stopped using Cookie. IMHO, it's a worthless mod, and not needed. I was tired of the "out of memory" messages in Opera, and the need to reset often.

These are what I am using for settings..................... I do have the Stocks tab and the album tab turned off, and I have not added any other tabs. It update Weather every 30 mins. and I have the animations turned off. I have 2 e-mail account 1 is setup on exchange and peak time's are set for every day from 7am to 11pm and one checks every 2 hours. Twitter updates every 15 mins and Facebook every 2 hours. Almost Never have any more than 200 texts on my phone, as I archive them when it hits that point. My Inbox stay pretty lean as I move stuff to folders pretty regularly. I stopped using cleanRAM because for some reason it was causing issue's for me. If its running slow share what your settings are and what programs you are running with it. |

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
I ended up removing it. I couldn't find anything. I even left out many options, like more than one frame of quicklinks. I had a single page of quicklinks, no background or text, no page indicator, and simple animation enabled. I was still getting into the 80's on mem usage.

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
take ur favorite ROM, and just mess with the pagepool a bit. you may or may not be able to find a golden spot for u.

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
thanks a lot guys, I still a newbie, so don't know much about anything actually. I don't know where to look pagepool.
As far as my settings are concerned, I have 4x5 quicklinks 3 pages. I use only 2. At the bottom I have 5 tabs, home, mail, text, weather and settings (not sure how to change that since with CHT I do not get an option) I have total 8 cabs, I guess the biggest is BING, CHT and MArketplace. I have 3 emails, one as itmes arrive, 2nd as 15 minutes and 3rd as 1 hour. Weather updates every 1 hour. I don't have any text messages at all. I don't use FB or twitter. |

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
I'm on the MR2 fixed Rom (Verizon) and my usage is up as well, but I was under the impression that it was more of a 6.5 issue then a CHT issue. I can cruise all day under 65% memory usage but the second I open up any major programs (Opera Mini, Youtube etc.) usage shoot up to and stays at 80+%. I use RAM Sweeper which helps but the process repeats itself daily. I haven't had any lag on CHT and the only limitation I have is I usually toggle the weather animations off. I miss 6.1 + Dynamic Resource Proxy... :(

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
I dont use it either because of the slowness and memory, all i want is 4 row shortcuts and 2 calender appointments.

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
CHT isn't for everyone's taste, personally I love it. Im running NRG's July 24th ROM w/ CHT cooked in and it does go as high as 65% but never goes any higher and my sense stays fluid, stable and fast. When ur running CHT on a TP2 u have to go under Miscellaneous settings and change your animation to Optimized or Simple to keep everything running smooth. Also I keep my emails & text messages under a few hundred just to be safe but I suggest a ROM with CHT cooked in, Im not a fan of installing CHT separate... Just never seems to work as well
EDIT: Maybe changing your PagePool and reflashing the ROM might help with CHT (Just a thought, could be wrong) |
Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
I uninstalled it too :( Made my phone too slow.
I just want to be able to add call history below the calendar bar on the today screen ... |
Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
What do you guys recommend as a pagepool? I haven't messed with it for a while, almost forgot you could.
Back when I had a Touch Pro i used to set SSK roms to 0 pagepool do you think that would help or just make CHT take up as much available RAM as it could? I'm probably going to try it out anyway but just wondering your thoughts |

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
How do I check the pagepool. Also if I reflash the rom I will have to do all the settings again. Someone told me that I can save all my settings somewhere and can get it back after reflashing. I already have a pim backup.

this is the pagepool changer i use. you have to unzip the exe for the rom you are running into a folder, and in that folder it will have the ruu_signed.nbh file. run this app and browse to the nbh file and it will tell you the pagepool. you can adjust the value and click 'change to' to change the pagepool. i am trying out 0 on MightyRom Full Force which is basically dynamic, it opens up sources as i need it. usually it is 12 and i heard Mighy recommends anywhere between 8 and 12 for sense 2.5 roms

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
just reporting back after a little less than 24 hours on a rom with CHT and a 0 pagepool it does NOT solve RAM issues as was probably expected, but does make the phone lightning fast. Im sorry to say however, that it has actually gotten up to 90%+ ram at one point...basically it doesnt fully close out of any program. So the programs run smoothly especially if u only use a few regularly, but if you often do different things and switch between different tasks expect a few resets.
I think i will be sticking with it however just for the speed improvement. Another option would be to make a high pagepool like the 24 that chronster recommended, it'll allow usage to go higher but still prevent it from going 'too high' (but then again that depends on what you consider 'too high') Moral of the story, lower pagepool may slow it down but will limit usage. Higher pagepool will make it faster at the risk of high RAM usage |

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
I feel the same way.... I like the mod, but I'm getting tired of the running out of RAM lately. Tried just about everything to solve it. Off to go find some nice running clean ROMs and go back old school.

Re: RAM usage Too high after CHT
Just set your pagepool between 12-16mb.I always set mine to 12
If you set it to zero, that means is a full trust to Win Mo SYS to manage your RAM,which is not the best idea.Win Mo is good, but not that good. Some people had luck with 32mb,but for its a mem hog,so Im sticking with 12-16 area |
