i used to have a work email through outlook, ALL my personal contacts sync'd with this. I no longer have the address so when i removed the account and stopped activesync i lost all my contacts.

I can get them back as they gave me temp access to the server again, but how do i keep them on the phone? then I was looking to sync with gmail so i have them backed up.

is there any other way to back up contacts??

Try this neat little program called PIM backup it works for me.

just copy & paste pim.vol from the root of your device's file system. You'll have to use total commander or resco explorer to paste it because file explorer won't overwrite it.

There's also Microsoft MyPhone which is already on your phone. It backs up whatever you want in contacts, calendar, tasks, favorites, music, documents, *storage card*, photos, emails, message, videos, & maybe other stuff I can't remember. Much more flexible than ActiveSync IMNSHO
