New TP2 user ROM and App questions
 

Hello all, I’m coming from a Touch Pro, and just got upgraded to a Touch Pro 2!! Well I am really excited for this phone, and I want to know what some people favorite apps are and what ROMS are good. I am also looking at putting android on this phone as well.

So in a nutshell:

1. What are the most used/highly rated custom ROMS
2. What are some must have Apps for TP2?
3. Can I dual boot android on this? (And generally how does it work on the TP2?)

I have 2 days to get all my info on the TP2 before it comes in!! :)

1. IMO the most popular ROMs are MightyRom, BigMaxSense Rom, Energy, Mr. X, and Vin's roms. I've tried them all and I'm currently running MightyRom, but if you're familiar with flashing from your Touch Pro it should be pretty self explanatory when you look through their respective threads what you're options are.

2. My must have apps include Skype, Opera Mini 5, Touch Twit, Total Commander, psShutXP, and Bing. Some apps come with ROMs, Some you can find on Marketplace, some you may have to search for it in these threads. A good place to check for apps and upgrades is here

3. Check the Android forum for information on Booting Android. The thread with all the information, support, and links to downloads is here. After installing, check here for information on how to set up dual boot. Note that the Android setup is not perfect, and by not using the startup utility it won't automatically set up your backlight to turn off.

I'd definitely read the stickies before going to far, they have a lot of information in the Upgrades section. After flashing, search through the Themes section for ideas to customize it how you like.

just wanted to add a little to kern417's great post above...
you forgot to mention Mr. X rom. one of my favorites.
android on the tp2 is cool to play around with but too many things dont work yet, like bluetooth, sound, camera.

thats big maxsense rom that kern417 mentioned. it works ok. i personally dont like it, but you may LOVE it.

I've basically jumped onboard with 6.5.x so i almost forgot about him, but i did run him a few months ago and it ran VERY well, basically MighyRom with a lot of cool visuals that add to the user experience

I havent tried it since the 6/5 release. I will say that it is a great combination of an Android like setup meshed with HTC Sense, all overlaying a Windows OS. I'm sure the updates he has released lately make it a lot more usable and faster, but i didnt like some of the customizations he included, especially Swype. That was basically a deal breaker for me.
