Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

Ok, right. I bought a mini usb to stereo audio adapter for my TP2 some time ago, few weeks, 2 months, something. It decided to break a few hours ago, can't hear right channel. Checked Amazon and pretty much everyone said don't buy the 68 cent adapter because it'll fall apart.

So, anyone know of better ones? There's one on Amazon for a KRZR, but I'm not sure if it's the same plug.

boredandtattooed 07-18-2010 09:26 AM

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

you just need to make sure its mini-usb.. if not sure, google KRZR and check the info out and see if its mini-usb...

also, im sure most are better than one you found for .68 cents lol

also what are you doing with this cable, you may have other options as well

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

If you're using the adapter for a set of headphones, why not just get a set of mini-USB headphones and eliminate the adapter? That's what I did for the rare occasions when I can't use my BT headphones.

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

i just use my earbuds on my laptop as well, and i don't want to have to keep track of two sets of headphones. the adapter is fine if it doesn"t break.

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

well the headphones for your laptop, should fit your TP2.. mine do.. both my laptop and my TP2 have 5.3mm headphone jacks..

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, does TMO TP2, not have a 3.5 jack?

anyways i have several extra dongles(htc oem adapters), dude ill send ya one at no charge.. only gonna cost me the cost of stamp anyways.. PM me, ill get it out in the mail tomorrow for ya

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

yea, ive only got two myself, and i dont even use em. i just like to have extras around. i once bought a lot of 12 oem tp1 leather cases just cuz i went through them so quickly. i got a tp2 a month later. it took me a solid 6 months to give all those away!

boredandtattooed 07-18-2010 02:33 PM

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

yeah ive got cables, dongles, oem cases(TP1s), chargers all over.. i went through alot of TP1s and most came NIB, so i had lots of extras

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

no the tmobile tp2 doesnt have a headphone jack. did an adapter come with the tp2? i'd love to get one from you if i could later tonight.

Miami_Son 07-18-2010 04:36 PM

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

My Tilt 2 came with a cool adapter that allows you to charge the phone with the headphones connected and has mini and micro sized jacks and an extra mini-USB socket. It's a bit cumbersome to use walking around, so I got the mini-USB headphones so I don't have to use it.

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

those adapters are pretty handy... i can confirm that the GSM tp2s do come with that adapter as well since they dont have 3.5mm jack built in... CDMA tp2s have the 3.5mm jack so the adapter isnt included. i can confirm this with sprint, verizon, tmobile, and at&t. a few of my friends got tp2s after i got mine but all on diff carriers, thats how i know.

Think any stores might have these? Amazon seems to be falling short on quality ones. Maybe I really will be stuck getting usb headphones.

ebay has several variety. use the search term "oem htc headphone adapter"

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

I just got mine in the mail from Ebay. Little more bulky than I expected. Weird how it forces the headphone cable to tilt to the side. Does what I want, so, cool. This was what I was looking for on my vacation a few weeks ago. I couldn't charge my phone in the car and listen on headphones at the same time. Now I can. Thanks for the help.

Don't know where you live, but that's illegal for drivers here in Cali.

I was in the passenger seat with 3 other people :)

it cost $7. However, the audio is skipping when I listen to music. I need to figure out if it's the files or the adapter. It's REALLY big when I actually used it. It doesn't twist much and ends up making my phone like 4-5 inches longer. I'm left wanting something smaller and manageable.

Edit: Playing the same songs as earlier out of the phone's speaker. No skipping. The adapter was causing the music to skip. Blah. Let's see, skipping music, bigger than manageable adapter. Time to find a new solution.

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

Okay this is really pissing me off finding a headphone solution. Several months into the phone and I haven't been able to listen to music with headphones. I tried that .67 cent one, it broke. I tried the stock HTC 4 in 1 adapter the other guys suggested, but it was massive. I found another on google shopping, got it in the mail and it didn't work with the TP2's mini usb plug.

I've tried searching amazon for mini usb ear buds, but comes up with nothing. Seriously, what am I missing here? I'm starting to wonder if this is a fruitless endeavor and maybe I should look into a different phone or carrier.

There's an OEM motorola ADAPTER for $1.48 and a bunch of other adapters.

Re: Stereo Audio Mini USB Adapter

I bought a set off eBay that have a mini-USB connector for $12. Work fine, but the sound quality was not as good as my Skull Candy set, so I sent them back. Still looking for a set. There's lots of ear bud-style (like the HTC ones in the link above), but I want the silicone in-ear type, not buds.

Not really, seeing as the HTC phones have a different shapes USB connector than motorola phones. See above also.

I'm not really interested in mini usb headphones actually. I like stereo 3.5mm ones because they can go in my laptop or the phone.

Can you post a link? Picture? How durable is it? Like I said above, I've already tried one that broke in 1-2 weeks. I think I might've found it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Headset-Adapte..._bxgy_e_text_b

Every review says it fell apart in a week. Sigh.

your a little backwards here. the notch is cut on the htc ones to not fit any other devices. all other makes will fit htc usb.

If a mini-usb headphone set works with HTC phones then there's no reason that a mini-usb adapter shouldn't work.

Really? Should I be looking for a certain make that qualifies as "all other makes"? The General Electric mini usb -> stereo audio adapter I have in my hand is not compatible with the HTC usb.

It may be wired slightly different, that's why I suggested the motorla USB, they generally have all the wires hooked up, where as the cheaper one's may not have the extra wire grounded or connected where it should be.

Seidio sells one apparently btw

http://www.htcdepot.com/seidio-mini-...11A75A2810.htm

This one has a customer review of using it on an HTC phone..

I just typed "mini usb 3.5mm adapter htc" into google and found a bunch.

hey now. im just here trying to help you. i have moto miniusb headphones that do work. i didnt say all makes would work. i said all makes will fit. theres a big diffrence.also, if your ge headphones are off the internet for a dollar fifty, theyre prolly knock off, not general electric.

here ya go man....

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._ya_os_product

Looking back tho it is the one that might be too large for ya... I had the same exact problem you do looking for any smaller one that worked.. had a few not work at all and 1 kinda work if i moved it right ](*,) ended up with a few of these about 6 months ago for my diamond(no 3.5mm built in) now i got a sprint tp2 with the 3.5 built in =D> so now one is for Backpacking w/ the diamond and the other is my tv-out adapter
And they do work on my diamond and tp2...well not the tv out on diamond :disgust:
