GPS without using data?

Ive tried bing, and my phone keeps trying to connect to data. Is there a good app that doesnt use network data... like a garmin?

Try turning off aGPS. That's why it is using data.

I've used Garmin XT on my TP2 in Europe without using data.

As long as you aren't using the data features (weather, traffic, google search, etc), no data required.

i dont think so. agps triangulates based on cell tower location. it uses your cellular radio. not data.

Sorry, but it does use small bits of data to do that. Try this, turn off the data connection on your phone. Then open a GPS-enabled app and try to get a location fix. You will see your data connection restart and the signal icon showing data transfer.

I found iGO. It looks promising. You load the downloaded maps, so hopefully it wont need to download any data.

NaviComputer is another good one that works that way and it is free. A little learning curve to downloading the maps, but works very well.

i just tried that, and guess what? no data. turned off my data, opened google maps. when i opened it, i wqas auto logged in to lattitude, witch uses data. i quickly signed out of latitude, turned off gps in settings on gmaps exited maps, turned the data back off. this was a good test to ensure data would auto start if it was needed. so i opened google maps and its got my location pretty close and no data has been transfered. data is still off. i wonder if we can get anexpert in here?
admission- after 7 minutes, something finally requested some data, but for all i know my push email turned it on.
