I installed some new cabs and now my home screen is blanc and the touchflo buttons are froze. When I open up setting it's blank. If I hit settings on the start page it just lights up but nothing happens.Thanks for reading.

No one will be able to help you until you start naming those CABs you installed

Oh, borked your phone. Hard Reset to dump the memory and don't install anything until you are certain that you are installing the correct software for a touch screen WinMo device.....

I installed TP2-Bat1%, AIR_HORN, ScreenOff_v1.0, 4ColumnsStart&AllPrograms_v1.1, and MyStopWatch. If I turn my phone off and back onthings look normal until I try and go to the settings screen. It comes up blank and the TouchFlo bar freezes up. I can get back to the home screen but it's blank too. Everything but settings and Tweet seems to be working fine from the start page.

Well I got all the cabs from this Touch Pro 2 forum so I guess I made a bad ASSumption thinking they were good.

Ofcourse there are guru's here that will help you... but w/ my little knowledge...here's what I wld try 1st...

1) Get to TASK manager (somehow - even if it takes disabling touchFlo)
2) Kill all the running processes....then uninstall / remove the cabs U last installed.
3) Also...if you cant get to the task manager... using file explorer...go to windows / startup dir...and see what all is starting up... U might want to delete the ones that are obvious problems... then restart...then follow steps 1 thru 2

You've just learned a very important lesson on backing up data and hard resetting. At least it isn't bricked.

Also, there are lots of cabs that do lots of things and if you install something that isn't meant for your phone, software or UI, this is the result.

Hope you get everything back in order.

Whatever I did deleted all the HTC apps. Calander, Settings, TouchFlo, Etc... It work after a cold boot until I try to open the settings. Then home screen is gone settings is empty. I'm probably going to have to go back to factory defaults...

there is a way to reinstall manila with .cab files, but its a pain in the ass. ill point you that way, but id just do a hard reset and get it over with. this time, be careful what you install, and try and figure out whats not compatible. i know it doesnt sound like it should affect manila, i would say the culprit is proll the start menu cab you said you installed. every thing else is legit and jives together. i use all those other programs.

When you say do a hard reset do you mean reload factory defaults?

A hard reset will put the phone back to the way it was when you got it. Do a search for the proper way to do it. The Tilt 2 comes with an app called Clear Storage that easily reinstalls the stock ROM and resets the phone.

Before you go reinstalling any cabs you need to realize that not everything is made to work with any Windows phone. There are different versions of Windows Mobile and each has different versions of things like the UI. It could be Manila, aka TouchFlo (which comes in 2D and 3D flavor) or Sense (which has 2.1 and 2.5 versions). Some things made for 2.1 will not work with 2.5 and vice versa. Then there is the issue of network architecture. The TP2 can be GSM or CDMA. Some software will only work with one or the other, not both. You really need to do the research before you just start throwing cabs at your phone. This forum is primarily CDMA oriented and heavy on Sense 2.5 stuff. It would be great if every cab poster specified exaclty what it worked on, but that's not possible with so many different configurations of the same phone being sold by multiple vendors. Learn how to backup your phone and your registry so that recoveries can be easier. And read up on any cab before you install it. Don't assume it will work on your phone.

im willing to bet the 4column apps and programs did it.. theres several floating around.. some for 6.1 and others for 6.5..

pretty sure when i tried it first i used wrong one and same happened...

Hey Bored, my Tilt 2 with OEM 6.5 has always had 4 columns. Is this different on the TP2? I can't believe how many differences there are with these phones and their suppliers.

it was def the 4column app because i tried downloading it on my phone and the same thing happened.. which is ok because i was about to hard reset anyway ;)
