TP2 gone from VZW website.
 

My friend was going to order a TP2 today from VZW and he can't seem to find it on VZW's website. I took a look and i can't find it ether. Is the phone gone like the eris?

It is indeed missing from the website, I wonder why?

There is no reason for it to be discontinued.
It is not that old and there is no equivalent WM replacement available at the moment.
They left the imagio which is the same other than lack of keyboard and some multimedia stuff.

We have been recommending it to our business associates as a no thrills phone that works well with Exchange.
I have yet to find an Android phone that integrates with Activesync as well as WM.
I hope they're just out of stock and get it back up on the website soon.

I don't know if it's discontinued but I've been kind of expecting it. It's never in the stores and the website has been listing it as 'Out of Stock' for at least a couple weeks now. Since the Sense 2.5 version came out, the phone is kind of a disaster as it is shipped from HTC; sluggish, prone to SODs, burdened with things designed for a faster processor, and, subject to touch screen failure ( newton rings ). I hope not though, with a custom ROM, it is a *great* phone.

that is just weird. i looked too and its not there. maybe its just a mistake. but there is a add banner on the top of my page saying " The HTC Touch Pro2 is the complete package". when i click on it and brings up a info page, showing what it can do.

I went to my local VZW center and i asked the rep. He told me that they did discontinued the tp2 months ago. My friend left and i stayed and got stuck with a new moto droid...lol.

I wonder why they would kill it off? It IS a great phone. Even the Stock (sprint) Rom ran great, and once you get a Cooked Rom on there, it is just about unstoppable.

I really would not trade it for another phone (except for an HD2 with a Slider).

They should really take down the Rhodium Banner if you can not get it anymore.

I think I read about a month ago that Verizon's TP2 got reduced to $29.95 with a new contract.

I think VZW was November? All the hoopla and rave press this phone got and now it's dead already. I guess I'll blame Microsoft, I already blame them for everything else. But really, the hugely premature announcement of Windows Phone(y) 7 put the nail in the coffin for 6.5 devices.

MS gave everyone the indication that a december launch was possible, i dont blame carriers for thinking it was reliable info... but carries should know by now that MS rarely gives a reliable launch date lol

The Tilt 2 has only been offered by AT$T since November, but it is already scarce in stores and almost impossible to find on their website. I bought mine new off Craig's List because I didn't want to lose my $15 unlimited data plan by upgrading through AT$T. Both CL and eBay have lots of new and barely used ones selling between $200-300, so there is still a demand.

There is an equivalent. The LG Fathom. My guess is they replaced it with that.

it may be sad, but i definitely remember it being offered since september 11th i believe? (lol waiting for that date was killer) or at least around then. but it has definitely been out of stock on the site for a while so i'm not surprised that they removed it. If you can't buy it, what's the point? you should be able to find them on ebay still

Yeah I wouldn't believe what the store reps say... I went in to the store like 2 months after I got my TP2, and I mentioned it to them. They told me "Verizon isn't getting the Touch Pro 2. And they don't carry the Touch Pro 1 anymore." I proceeded to show him by Verizon branded TP2 and he didn't have much to say...

I stop by two of the local VZ shops near where I work occasionally as I know guys who work there, & neither shop has EVER had a TP2 in stock (they have never even had a display model)

Strange, the Samsung Saga is still available, but now in a different color. Nothing has changed on the device though. And the Ozone, that's still there as well. This doesn't strike me as an "age" issue.

The funny thing is TP2 still haven't made it in my local Sprint store yet. (Lemon Grove, CA) 7 months and counting..........

yeah, it's called the droid 2. Windows Phone 7 devices should show up in november/december, but who knows if theyll put out one with a keyboard first.

Age should have nothing to do with a product.

it SHOULD be all about the power and the functionality. I have seen MANY new and unreleased product that are nowhere near as good as the Rhodium.

In my (professional) opinion, the Rhodium is one of the top Three Windows Mobile phones on the market today (off the top of my head the only one that is truley better is the HD2).

I can't wait to get my hands on the HD2S, I will be swapping my Service Provider for that one.

I think the last carrier is sprint. Im going to sell my TP2. Im to happy with my droid. I will buy another win mo phone until verizon sells 4g phones.

I wouldnt be surprised if all WM phones carrier-wide were discontinued. WinMo isn't flashy or snappy like the average consumer wants. Plus Microsoft is pretty much done with WM and moving onto WP7 anyways. The HD2 will probably be the last major WM release

IMO thats no equivalent because its not a htc device. I called verizon last week and they told me it was a retired device. I dont understand why. This device is kick ass. I just got one a couple months ago via insurance. Now i have to try not to break this one. Hopefully if I do i can get another though insurance.

IMHO
WiMo has the worst menu / GUI ever thought of.... some like titanium, i just don't get it. Love Sense but it's bloated. LOVE my Leo Energy with Cookie...
MS should spend a million, hire NRG & Cookie & refine out all little bugs & they'd have a winner w/o WP7!

i kinda wish i could have tried the vzw rom with 2.1 and 6.5 in it. that seemed like a good idea. 2.1 had some bloat but not as much. i finally took out the weather animations on the home screen cuz it was flooded with clouds. seems to run faster now, well the today tab :) i really like htc sense though. some people dont like it because its too many taps to one thing, but im so used to it it doesnt bother me.

VzW 6.5/2.1 was TERRIBLE. It was the worst of the 3 VzW ROMs (6.1, 6.5/2.1, 6.5/2.5). So many quirks...

OK, late to the party and all that...

I just called Verizon, knowing that there was a good chance nothing was available.

My keyboard stops working along with the physical buttons below the screen (all but the end/power button). Happens every day, sometimes multiple times. A soft reset solves it for a while.

Tried for a warranty claim as my warranty is up in September. They have no phones! I was told they would monitor availability and call if they received more refurbs in.

Any suggestions how to resolve this? If I get an android device under warranty, anyone want to swap for a Verizon TP2 (fully functional)?

Friday, I was on with VZW tech for a GPS problem. Being nice enough, they opted to warranty-exchange my TP2 however, not for another TP2.

After not succeeding at working out a deal between Support, and a store for another TP2 at my expense, I agreed to accept an LG Fathom.

At 1Ghz+, I'd call it a fair upgrade but, as annoyed as I was with the animated clock in TP2 MR1 & 2, I now miss the rest of HTC Sense the same way I miss the default Today of WinMo6.1.
