Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
I would be brave enough to do that if I had a step by step instructions for my TP2.

Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
Wow great price.. makes it worth doing the mod.
How clean did the EVO mods look? Somethings to consider: - The Pre's plastic back and charger each have (4?) magnets to ensure centered contact. They're strong enough to hold a Pre in a moving car, but a TP2 might be too heavy. - Not sure if there is additional circuitry or if the coil gets coupled directly to the battery. the TP2 battery has 4 contacts, I think the Touchstone cover has 2. You may have to attach something to the usb port.. - The VZ TP2 extended battery cover is thick enough to house a coil and magnets, but the center part might be metal which could prevent the charge unless you put the coil outside. Good luck and keep us informed if you do it!! |

ummm yeah that would make the tp2 heavy and more bulky no thanks!! the evo verison looks clean!!

Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
Thats an easy modification to do!
I ordered 3x of those charger combos to mess with. 2x go in a couple of my high-end flashlights, And the 3rd is for my lovely TP2 :D I can offer this as a mod for anyone once i get mine up and going. The whole thing should look stock. Although i might have to clearance the inside portion of the back cover inorder to account for the ac-dc conversion circuit that the receiving end has. here are the lights i want to put them in. I allready offer craploads of options anyways... Why not more?? http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...d.php?t=226554 |

Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
just received my touchstone and backing for pixie. ripped it apart and placed it on my tp2 backing. fits right in...snug and tight. doesnt stick out one bit. since the tp2 is a bit heavier, it doesnt stick to ts like a pre. it will snap in but, holding it ever so slightly vertical...starts to slip off. maybe stronger magnets? or adding more magnets? perhaps taking off the orange part of my back cover (sprint), so the magnets are closer to the ts
this weekend, ill open up my phone and look for a positive point to tap the wire for the coil. |
Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
more powerful magnets can be put in the base :)

Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
has anyone found good contact points for this yet? i opened mine up tonight but couldn't find anything and didn't want to just start guessing. Also theres articles online about putting stronger magnets in so i wouldn't worry about that.

Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
I did it :)
I used desolder braid as contact points bewteen the phone and the cover. Works like a charm :) Just make sure that all the wires are isolated from each other. I also did my NDSi too!! Pics! (sorry for some of the blurrycam ones... Mogul did it!) http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_007.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_006.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_005.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_004.jpg http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_003.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_002.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_001.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_IMAG0280.jpg http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_IMAG0279.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_IMAG0278.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_IMAG0277.jpg http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_IMAG0276.jpghttp://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p..._IMAGE_008.jpg This is where the Positive side of the touchstone inductance charger connection goes... http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_8185-1.jpg The negative side can be just about anywhere on the mainboard that has a gold section on it. Make sure you test it with a multimeter with the charger cable plugged in to be sure. And if you don't have a DMM, Go get one ya goof! I ran all the wires nice and neat inside too. But the contacts on the back of the phone that connect to the back cover are kinda messy at the moment. Waiting for some conductive stickyback fabric/tape to make it look all professional. Enjoy! |
Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
very nice, looks great. but where did you connect the wires once you got inside the phone? do you have any pics of that?
very nice. Not sure if i have steady enough hands to try to solder that. Thanks! |

Re: anyone try a Touchstone mod on a TP2?
i tore mine back apart just now and know there is NO way i'm going to be able to solder on that positive connection. thanks for the pictures, might have to find someone local that knows what they're doing.
Is there any other spots on the board that would work?? |
