Speaker on Face Down
Hi, I updated to VzW MR2 (Mr.X's fixed version, 6.5/2.5) recently.
Overall I like the update very much but there are a few things I am trying to figure out... The "turn speaker on when phone is placed face down" feature is one of them. It is not like it doesnt ever work (yes the check box in settings for this feature is checked), at first I thought it was random. But lately it seems like if I place a call this feature works, if I receive a call it does not. Anybody have this issue before ??? Any ideas ??? |
Re: Speaker on Face Down
works for me everytime it seems.. just did a few tests since i dont use speaker all that often... even answering a call in landscape(KB open), when i flipped it over, speaker lit up and activated no prob..

Re: Speaker on Face Down
I have confirmed that it seems to ALWAYS work when I place a call, but NEVER when I receive a call.
I called myself from anther phone and confirmed it was not working, then checked the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendS etting "EnableSpkWithFaceDown"=dword:00000001 As you can see it is set to 1 (same as it is when I place a call...) Any ideas what could be going on? It is almost like when I receive a call my g-sensor isnt working or ??? |
Re: Speaker on Face Down
If you changed your g-sensor poll time using advanced config, the speaker-on-when-face-down does not work. Just a guess...this one baffled me for weeks.
Edit: I had changed mine from 200 or 400 (whatever the default is in ms) to something like 50. Changed it back and the face-down stuff started working again. |

curious because it is weird like i said it always works when i place a call but never when i receive a call. any idea what reg key changes the g-sensor poll interval ??? |
Re: Speaker on Face Down
Not sure if this is related, and I haven't dig into this issue as far as examining the related registry entries; however I did notice shortly after receiving my TP2 that sometimes the g-sensor would simply stop working. It happens so randomly (sometimes frequently, sometimes very infrequently) that I haven't even begun to form a theory. But the only way to fix it was to soft reset.
I haven't used anything to change my g-sensor poll interval, including Advanced Config. I did end up putting the teeter game on a handy shortcut to quickly check if the g-sensor was working. |
Re: Speaker on Face Down
I've noticed that if the surface I am laying the phone face-down on is not perfectly flat, the speaker won't turn on. One solution is to press speaker before flipping the phone over. Then it will stay on until you press the speaker button again.
