TP2 GPS Mapping programs

Hi All,
I am totally bummed....I had my TP replaced by a TP2 by Assurian, and I was REALLY excited about the upgrade, but I am now in the process of loading all my tried and true Apps that I am used to using, only to find out that the one I used the most TomTom Navigator, no longer works on the TP2! Am I missing something? I have looked to see if there is an upgraded version but I can't seem to find one? Is the TP2 NOT supported by TTN? If not what would you all suggest as a worthy replacement for TTN, I would like a program that does NOT need the memory card to be swapped everytime I wish to use it!

Thanks,
Mike

have you tried bing or google maps? they both are free, and not too shabby.

Could it be as simple as having to register the new device? I've got garmin on mine and loaded to the sd card and have no issues using it, and don't swap my card out either.

I recall some posts when the TP2 first came out about GPS lag and TT. Is that your issue or something else?

Not true GPS programs, of course. I'll use them for casual nav in a familiar area. But I use Garmin for routes, waypoints, etc.

Not free. But at this point they have no US distributor.

Hey Mike, how badly do you want your TOMTOM back. There are soluations to most of life's problems on the internet. Do a google search where there is a will you will find a way. That is all I will say. If you want your TOMTOM back bad enough you will find it.:-k I have had my touch pro 2 replaced many times. I paid for TOMTOM and believe me I was not happy when I found out it was not working. So I went online and found a work around solution to my problem. If you ask the right questions you will find the right answers. But for starters download the cab in my signature line that might fix your problem. Because your registeration information should still be on your sd card. This version also has eliminated most of the lag time. The program works for TOMTOM 7 and 8 maps. Good luck finding a solution to your problem.

Hi All,
Thanks for the suggestions!
Jamice4u THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I have a feeling that is exactly what I needed.....I know what you mean I paid good money for this program from TomTom and was REALLY pissed when I found out they were no longer supporting it for the newer PDA's! I had searched out on the net for a "Fix" and had tried a couple files that did not work and kinda gave up! It is sometimes really hard to weed through all the BS on the net, so thanks again!

I spent time looking and I can't find anything too. I found this on HTC's site, does this help ?

http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownlo...at=0&dl_id=624

My TP2 is on it's way, and use Tomtom 7+ on my titan all the time and I was planning on moving it over. I will not be a happy camper if I can't get it working on my newer phone :(

Any real answer will this help ???

Get the file in Jamice's link as suggested....after that I had to get new maps, and all is working fine now....I do have the Lag issue, but I have not tried any of the fixes for it yet, It does not bother me that much! If you have any trouble getting it working let me know!

Re: TP2 GPS Mapping programs

I use Copilot Live8 for my GPS Navigation. It was $30 which was a lot cheaper than most of the other paid for Nav programs. It works flawlessly with one exception. I like to listen to Audio-books while on the road and Copilot will freeze the Audio playback between every chapter of the Audio-book so I had to resort to my Sansa for this purpose but over all I would definitely recommend Copilot.

I did grab the fixed TT and with a e-mail to TT support, my new maps work fine (got them a few months ago). I still have a problem with lag.

I also have incar nav (bad logic tho, so I prefer to use tomtom time to time.

When traveling with the downloaded version of TT, I will pass the road, then about 2 seconds later, TomTom shows me passing the road. It might be fine on some back roads/areas where roads are far apart but, in a city, it would be almost worthless.

Is there a way to get it more accurate ? Or is there anything I can do here ?

Funny, I had TomTom working flawless on a XV6800 with less than 5 second locks 95% of the time(agps) and no lag, on a phone that does not support GPS from the provider and the new GPS supported phone lags...I'm lost...

Any idea ?

Re: TP2 GPS Mapping programs

TTN definitely works on the TP2... there are multiple threads on it even in this forum... the only issue was getting TTS to work and there is a long thread on that solution... I personally prefer Garmin XT but have used TTN in the past on a TP2... also, the new Bing, if you have not tried it, has turn-by-turn directions now, including TTS, is free, and works reasonably well actually... at least worth a quick look while you're sorting out your TTN issues...
