What's the Mighty difference??
 

Hello all,

I've been running Sprint's lastest ROM prior to last night, when I made the switch to Mighty ROM. I appreciate everyone who's provided instructions and feedback on flashing ROM's, b/c my first time went very smoothly.

Here's the thing though. I was expecting to see an extremely noticeable difference in the speed/functionality of my phone; however I haven't really noticed a difference at all. My used RAM is down maybe 2% based on the programs a most often run, but the phone doesn't seem to be running any faster.

I'm wondering if I could get some feedback from other Mighty ROM users that switched from Sprint 6.5. Am I missing something?? Thanks in advance.

give it more than 5 min maybe? tethering is free, less bs loaded, games seem better......

I'll disregard the bit of sarcasm to start your post b/c I can appreciate it as being the best form of humor.

I've read conflicting information regarding stealth tethering on this site. Some say that the use of WifiRouter on Sprint's stock ROM does not incur any additional usage charges, so I wasn't sure about that. Regarding your comment about less bs being loaded, that's one of the things I looked forward to that would really speed up performance. You're probably right that it may be a little too early to look for differences....

wasnt sarcasm, wait more than a day to see real improvements. usb tether i was talking about, not wifi.

I am on MR 5/24/10 and have used USB Tethering and the WiFi Router in Comm Setting...no extra charges so far. I tether my iPad through my MR phone and it works great! Allowed me to get the iPad without 3G because I can tether for free :)

I will say that at first when I went from stock to a custom rom I noticed nothing, but some things I learned was, before flashing use the pagepool changer and up the size, I use 32 (not sure what the measurements are in) but my phone runs a lot faster and smoother. I wouldnt use 64 because when I tried I didn't have enough memory to even open opera. My phone runs fast even when 80% of the ram is used. I am on the Verizon phone but I'm sure they aren't that much different.

Also, in order to use pagepool changer you have to extract the .exe file using winrar or 7zip and it's in the folder.

I have tried pagepool settings all the way from 6 to 32 & never noticed much (if any) performance difference.

well I used to think the same because I always used somewhere between 12-16 but when I did 32 I noticed a much more responsive phone, but maybe it's just me. I would just say to use it for about a month and then try stock rom again and you will probably notice the differences

anyone who has truely used a mighty rom will tell you the difference between Mighty Rom (any version) and sprint stock or any other is countless tweaks and stability while still maintaining as stock as possible

My only gripe with Mightyrom is that it takes about 5 minutes to load up from the initial power on.

Stock shipped Sprint didn't do this, and neither does my Sprint Lovers rom i've been using for the past week.

you definitely get a lot more free storage space (~230mb) on the phone after loading up Mighty compared to stock (~130mb) due to less garbage....

the program memory improves only by about 20 mb or so.

I have tethered using 3 different methods with Mighty: 1. USB by Wmodem and ICS 2. Wifi hotspot by the HTCWifirouter (included as part of Mighty) and 3. Bluetooth PAM.

All you need to do is make sure all the registry are good.... I do believe that Mighty deleted all the entries that would detect tethering. However I dont believe it includes all the additional registries needed for all the above methods. Just have to check and make sure....

Going to try 32, and even 64 without using opera, later.

I just want the FATEST phone & text device possible....with stability
I do NOT care about any other programs or features.

placebo, if 32 made it dramatically faster don't you think Mike would have already set it there??

All I am saying is when I did it from 14 I noticed a big improvement, it may just be me or my phone but its worth a try because it worked for me. And maybe Mike did and never noticed anything or left it to the user hence the reason for leaving the pagepool changer in the .exe. Not sure just sharing my personal experience.

how about asking Mighty users, in Mightys Thread... these ROM threads are dreadful..

why dont mods get rid of things like these since theres 100s of these threads already
