Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
Sorry if this is a bit confusing, I'll try to explain the best I can what I'm trying to do.
I have a t-mobile phone, with active service, and I have my Sprint TP2, with active service. Is there any way I can put the T-mobile sim into my touch pro, and recieve calls and text messages from both numbers? |
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
yes, you can just pop the t-mobile sim in a sprint tp2 and use it. but you must be sim unlocked first, and in case you're wondering, you can't use tmo and sprint at the same time. you have to switch between gsm and cdma mode. if you get stuck, post back :).

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
bleh, see I have important messages that come in on both lines so I need to be able to answer both phones at any given time :(.
Is there possibly an application that will switch back and forth from GSM to CDMA every couple of minutes (the texts are more important than the phone calls)? I know this would bring battery life down to like, 2 minutes, but I can always plug it in! Any ideas? |
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
i don't think there's a program out there for that...let me investigate..

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
Thank you! I'm usually pretty good at searching for this kind of stuff, but no one seems to be trying to do what I'm doing :(
I'll keep looking as well and see if I find something before you! |
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
i just checked around, no program for auto switching can be found. i'll keep my eye out. but remember, you must sim unlock your phone, then flash a special radio for this to work with manual switching.

yeah I did that research already, $25 bucks! not bad to solve a silly problem hehe.

good luck, if you need further help, feel free to ask.

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
One method of re-routing phone calls is through T-mobile's Call-Forwarding. When I had T-Mo, it was free to call forward some 500 minutes/month.

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
Is there not a way to just use one number (like say google voice)? I thought it could forward multiple lines to just its service.

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
youll only have to text yourself the code once(but install chetstriker first)for each side to set it up, and then to take it off youll just have to uninstall the program. Once the program is uninstalled, then if you wanted to reinstall it youll have to text the commands again one time.

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
I think this would be a problem. currently the t-mobile phone is one of the most basic of nokia phones. so if I understand chetstriker right, it won't work :(. Doesn't it require the phone to be on recieving texts so the chetstriker program can interpret the sms command and send out another sms? so wouldn't that not work if the t-mobile side was off? and visa versa?

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
it can be done, but from what i've been told, att locks their sim to their phone for 40-60 days before you can switch it to another phone. if you have an old, active sim card, it should work. most people choose t-mobile because you can just pop their sim card right in :).

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
So did that chetstriker play out succsessfully????
|
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
I don't think chetstriker will work. if the t-mobile side is off, how is the text going to get bounced to my sprint side? there's nothing to recieve it and send it back out. unless I turn the t-mobile side one.
right? |
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
My carrier has a service in which they "import" an existing account (or you can just sign up for a new one) as a second line (with a new number but sharing all of your actual plan's benefits) AND receiving all its related stuff in the same phone (calls, SMS, etc.) at the same time. So you end up having two lines but paying/sharing one plan (BTW, the extra line is a service paid in a monthly basis).
If I was in your situation (and I will as soon as I get a good deal on a TP2) I would move my T-Mobile line to Sprint but request to make that new line into this service I'm describing. That way I wouldn't need to pay for a line for which I only use the SMS and instead just pay a little fee for having it as a second line. BTW, I'm in Mexico. If we have such service then Sprint surely could get something similar (mine is a CDMA carrier too). Regards. |
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
BTW, IMAO it sucks that you can not use the radio for having both lines running. This is an expensive phone, it should do everything I think it capable of. lol

One question, does the phone need a soft reset to switch back and forth, or can it switch "on-the-fly"? |
Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
no soft reset required, just switch between gsm and cdma and you're good!

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
For anyone that's curious... the reason it cannot run both GSM and CDMA simultaneously is because there is technically only one radio. It's capable of multiple frequencies, just not at the same time. Think of it just like your car stereo - it can't tune to different two stations at once, so the radio in the phone is similar. It does have the auto mode, but that only switches to GSM if no CDMA signal is present.
I think the reason no one has come out w/ an app that can switch from one to the other every few minutes is, at least last I checked, no one can seem to figure out how to switch the radio mode outside of the phone's own settings screen (it's not just a registry edit or something simple like that from what I understand) |

Re: Any way to use T-mobile AND Sprint on the same TP2 at the same time?
there are several phone settings that need toggle apps. mode of operation(hybrid/1x/evdo), network service(home/auto/roam), ect..
the best i've seen so far is mortscript, but that can be picky to the number and order of enabled options in the menu. |
