SMS to Asia with unlock TP2 Sprint
 
I have sprint TP2. If I unlock my phone and use US SIM card such as simple mobile card. Is it possible for me to use the phone and make an SMS to Asia ? and also use the phone as regular sprint phone ? The issue is that CDMA phone cannot SMS to Asia. Thanks for your help.

Wouldn't be easer to just IM with someone in a different country or e-mail?

yeah if you can sim unlock to use a gsm sim card...i put in my vodafone card...thats what i do to to send texts to india

Yes. I would appreciate if you can provide me with more detail. I know you can send email or IM but SMS/Text is very popular in Asia. Most people don't check email that frequently.

not sure why you would need to sim unlock. i am able to send SMS messages to Asia (Philippines to be exact) without having to unlock my SIM. and im sending to a GSM phone. ever since i can remember having sprint, i've always been sending text to the Philippines. every now and then the message will somehow disappear in never never land...but for the most part in general, my messages are received by the recipient. but of course....int'l text messaging fees apply.

if your using any international or us sim in the us...you need to sim unlock your phone from olipro to patch a us radio that will give you access if you plan to use it outside the us ie ur present in some other country then just pop in a sim card

i send texts to china all the time. i know for a fact they receive them. at $.20 on sprint it gets a bit expensive tho.

I'm in Indonesia (southeasetasia) and using gsm & cdma and sms to other country without any problem

Same here. Ive also SMS'd to Vietnam with no issues or tweaks.
