Stream media from server to TP2 over 3g

Alright. I am looking for a solution on how to stream my videos and music from my Windows Home Server at home over 3g to my TP2 and have it play in TCPMP.

When I am at home, I can turn on wifi and stream through Resco File Explorer and any media player on the TP2 that I want. The instant I leave my wifi bubble though, I am reduced to FTP access to my files.

I have tried Kinoma Freeplay using the Orb service. It works exactly how I would love to have access to my files, but the Kinoma player plays videos horrifically.

Is there a way to somehow map the network shares through Resco File Explorer so that they can be accessed through 3g? Or is there an app out there than actually connects the windows home server to the windows mobile phone???, ridiculous that this should even have to be asked MICROSOFT.

Thanks.

Yep, right there with you. Tried that and it just made me angrier that it wouldn't work. Kinda wish my MICROSOFT phone could connect to my MICROSOFT server.

There are a few options that I know...but this is the one that is the most simple and should work well.

Ever hear of hamchi? This app (http://www.jrin.net/blog/go.php?http...hi-0.0.3.1.cab) links your device and your home computer as if they were on the same network.

Now just connect to hamachi on your home computer and winmo device and you can use Resco explorer anywhere just like you do at home. This is not a guide, but its a solution. Should you need more help, just let me know. I have used this before in the same manner that you are looking to use it.

oh, and don't forget to either portforward or DMZ the local IP of the computer that you are using.

Best of luck,

Yea, I tried Hamachi a while ago and couldn't get it working correctly on the phone. Gonna try again.

yea, it should work...did you remember to forward your ports? nothing will work if you don't do this since your router will block this (I assume you are behind a router). OR if the PC is a server and you have many things that require that you open many ports, I usually just DMZ that IP. Also, you could go the hard way and setup your computer to run SAGETV and then install the webtv component and simple enjoy the beauties of a portable DVR (if you have a TV tuner).
