Tethering issue
I originally joined the forum to get an answer to this issue. I have searched for several days and have not seen anyone having this issue. When I tether my phone to my Acer One net book it will connect and work properly but at random it will disconnect the tether and switch to either the active sync function or the external drive function, depending on which one I used last. Now, I am almost certain that this is a computer issue and not a phone issue. My net book contracted the "Antispyware Soft" Malware the other day. My phone is my only internet connection. I had the phone tethered to the net book while the computer was in safe mode and it didn't disconnect once in the two hours that I had it connected to get the malware removed. What setting would be different in safe mode that would make it so that the connection isn't severed at random?

Re: Tethering issue
Try disabling your activesync on your PC when you tether up.
To do this right click on the active sync icon and select settings (or whatever). Uncheck the "allow usb" connections. I've had good luck with staying tethered up over USB without interruptions. |
Re: Tethering issue
Strangely enough, I haven't had a single issue tonight. I connected as usual and downloaded ZoneAlarm and it stayed connected the entire 5 min it took to DL it. It has actually been connected for about an hour. I wonder if something that the malware did to my internet settings has "fixed" my issue. So, unless something changes, I guess my problem is solved. I am going to give it a couple days but I think I am good for now.

Re: Tethering issue
Make sure also yr usb cable or port are not loose which could give intermitten signal interruption as you inadvertly move the computer or phone ever so slightly.
