Sprint text tracking ??

Hey guys

Kinda of a strange question but my Buddy's wife want his password to his sprint online account, she accused him of deleting to hide text msg's, so she thinks she can go online in to his account and view past msg's.

Is this possible, or is she blowing smoke up his XXX, I cant find anything online where someone could see whom you text, and be able to read the text you sent them, or received a month ago!

lol, sounds like He's got more problem's than deleted text's, but I do not believe that they keep a copy of all your text online, that just stinks of privacy invasion all over it and I have not seen on the site anywhere they store your text messages.

Re: Sprint text tracking ??

It's illegal for any carrier to keep copies of the text messages sent/received through their service.

The closest your gonna be able to get is a call (not text) history to numbers that called/were called by the phone.

Yea the poor guys always getting accused of screwing around behind her back, we cant even have lunch with out his phone ringing 3, 4 times, so she can ask him where the remote is, or if he fed the dog, and when are ya coming home?

Warning to some of you single guys left out there, she sure was a doll, before they got married.

Actually most carriers can pull up copies of sent texts... How far back they go, I have no idea, but in order to get the copies, one must provide the carrier with a subpoena from court.

In my opinion if she has thought he has cheated on her without any solid evidence... she has or has thought of cheating on him already.

Or she's just super insecure. Or has been burned before. Or likes drama.

Either way, therapy is in order. :)

Obviously no one without a court order would touch them...interesting article I read a few years ago.

before sprint changed to sms you could access text messages through your online account, but that was years ago. tell your bud he should (never say never) be safe on that front. although never take for granted a woman scorned!!!

Basically, my girl is a lawyer and she has seen a couple months worth pulled. I hope she isn't that gung ho, because like Chris said she needs a subpoena.

Re: Sprint text tracking ??

I think by government standard its like 2 years or something..but yes you need a court order to get it and for law enforcement purposes.

As for encrypting text messages..not really gonna work..here is why..if you use an encryption that is signed, the government can call up the signer and get it decrypted.

The only safe way is to use your own encryption for sending the message and the person on the other end must have your key to do the decryption. Not to mention you'll have to update your key every now and then because it can be compromised if used often enough.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Now as for his wife..he should just confront her directly..for all you know she is listening to "cheating" stories from her friends and just feels insecure..or maybe she feels like she is lacking attention..the longer he prolongs it the worse its gonna get...

LOL.

What makes you think that?

Having worked for 2 major telco's, and aware of the various divisions responsible for subpoenas, warrants, and warrantless surveillance, I can assure you that EVERY bit of data you send, every text message, every email, every phone call, etc CAN be retrieved within a certain time frame. The only exception to that is when end to end encryption is used, Ie the device encrypts the data, the encrypted data is then sent across the network to the other end device where it is decrypted.

Telcos have the ability, at the flip of a virtual switch, to transmit your location within about 30 ft, enable the microphone on your device, and transmit audio, without your knowledge.

Technology is a double edged sword.

another thing to look out for:::::MyPhone service.

If you have MyPhone service and back it up regularly and have SMS/Text checked, it will backup the devices Txt messages to Microsoft Live account.

While its a nice service, it can be a pain in the a$$ if you know what I mean..... ;-)

Wow, not that I have anything to worry about personally, but that's a scary thought. I guess you just can't ever be too cautious about who's listening, right? I'm not a legal-buff, but wouldn't this constitute invasion of privacy? lol Anyway, not to get off track, but I think the question has been thoroughly answered. And the myPhone service is a good point, too. I haven't checked my myPhone account online, yet, but I do believe it does record/backup all text messages as well.

Indeed it is... But I was just basing it off the fact that a little over a year ago, I had someone text me their phone number, and I accidentally deleted it before saving it. So I hit up VZW to see if they had any record of texts, even just the number it came from so I could get the number back. The rep didn;t know so she sent me to a manager. The manager then proceeded to inform me that it was illegal for them to keep copies of text messages, and the closest I could get would be phone records.

Apparently, he didn't know jack...

And as far as "encrypting" texts via a custom key, is there an app for that? (<--- wow that felt very iPhone-ish) Not really sure how big of a market there is for that. more jsut wondering out of curiousity.

Ya that has to be them writing all the review's. Honestly if you don't want anyone to track what you are doing or don't want them to have access to it DON'T Use anything digital. speaking in person is the safest way to stay confidential. back allies and trench coat's I say lol.

anyways... back to the topic at hand...

Re: Sprint text tracking ??

Sprint does keep a log of all the texts but a court order is needed to access them and you can not access them from the sprint account. You have to send a request in writing to Sprint along with the court order and sprint will provide the printed versions of the texts.

We tried this with my step son's texts when we thought he was using text messages to cheat on tests. (we did not go through with getting a court order due to the legal costs) However, sprint disabled the text delete feature on his phone so he couldn't delete the texts, which of course, we checked.

Yeap a court order is needed. But how many dumb reps you get on a phone call who does not know how to do there job right? Plus last number you dail they can that. But a order is needed to tell someone it. Sprint has the dumbest cust. service reps. Listen how they talk, hahaa like cavemen breathing heavy on the mics. Put you on hold eatting a cupcake. But his girl put a quarter in his a%* she played him with that trust it. Question it was you right hahaa the guy who threw up this post right.

No! I don't play that game with women, if they get flaky they need to go, I'm to old for those games.

I found out if a girl is pretty, but not so bright, she's usually insecure, and it leads to a life of you having to reassure her, especially as she ages and her looks go.

If a girl is pretty, and smart as hell, eventually she will question why is she with you, and start treating you like your nothing.

Me, I tried to find an cute girl, thats smart, but had like a small, small flaw, like a sixth finger, or webbed feet, or small tail attached to her rear. :drunken:

Anyway I believe were all living in the Matrix, some one programed us to think that hooking up with a girl, having kids, buying a house, getting a slick arse ride is what its all about, and when we wake up its too late.

But this is way off topic.

Thanks for all the info guys, I kinda feel sorry for him, but he did make his bed!

Re: Sprint text tracking ??

Went through that myself! The online account has no record of the text activity like who you texted or who texted you or the logs much less. You would literally have to contact Sprints internal tech support to get that information and yes it would have to be a big legal matter for them to do even go through all the work!

Sad to hear the BS He is going through though! haha

but it won't upload them from the phone if you unclick text messages on initial setup when you run myphone from the phone the first time after a flash.
then you don't have to worry about them ever making it online.
