Mobile Windows Media Player and WAV files

I now get my voicemails converted to an email with the actual voice mail as attachment in the email; the attachment is a WAV file. When I download the attachment (either in the email or on the storage card), it shows with the Mobile windows media player icon - however when I trying to play it, the Windows Media Player opens up - but I get a "An invalid media type was specified" error.

Questions are:
1. Am I missing something on my phone (a fix, codec, etc, hack).
2. If I am not missing anything then I assume I would need to download a player and associate the WAV file to that program? If that is so, anyone have suggestions for a player.

PS: The WAV file plays fine when I read the email from my desktop or transfer the file to a desktop.

Thx

Thanks.... do you (or anybody) know why WMP won't play WAV files on the handset?

I had the same issue on my Treo 700wx, I just ended up installing Coreplayer.

Is there anyway to change it so that one of these applications become the default player for .wav files as opposed to media player?

I rip all my CDs to wav and then sync to my player with WMP using the custom high settings. This produces wma files that are very high quality running 600-800kbps. No need for additional player, etc..

Dare you to tell difference between these files and originals....
