LeoCpuSpeed for TP2?

Any chance we can get this to work for TP2? I tried the cab and v2 zip file with LeoClockLib.dll and of course they didn't work. Since it seems we'll never get nueOverClock to work with TP2 this might be our new hope :)

Edit: I know they have different chips but sometimes things just work so I gave it a shot

Finally Released! See Below...

Supported devices
- Raphael
- Diamond (unconfirmed)
- Rhodium
- Topaz (unconfirmed)
- Blackstone
- More?

Features
- The CPU speed is calculated from the actual clock registers, not via some dll or shady method.
- CPU speed is updated every 250ms
- A small dot blinks on each update so that you can see if your device hangs or not.
- Under- or overclock by moving the slider

Notes on overclocking
1) AT YOUR OWN RISK
2) Only works while connected to AC power
3) The "604MHz" OC frequency is a special one. Only with this frequency set, you can remove AC power without having a lockup. So: after you overclock and want to remove your USB cable, set it to 604MHz first! You'll see it go back to the default 528MHz a second after you remove the cable. That's something the device does, not my app.
4) Overclocking while on battery gives insta-hang.
5) "Apply at boot" is disabled as under- or overclock would hang at boot.

When using TCPMP to benchmark the overclock, be aware that this tool overclocks the CPU, not the GPU.

Battery
The voltage to the processor is the same as when it is on 528MHz. It seems it cannot be increased. However, more speed will result in more heat, which means energy from your battery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/imag...lies/smile.gif

Versions
v1
- Initial release

Known issues
Q: Device hangs when unplugging from AC power
A: Read the overclock notes.

Q: When on battery and I press the "604MHz" button, it shows 604MHz for a brief second, and then goes back to "528MHz".
A: Some driver, module, or whatever in Windows Mobile enforces CPU speed every second, overriding the overclock. This is a known issue.

Credits
Thanks to NetRipper! and phhusson and bzo for their overclock in the Linux kernel for MSM7k devices, And thanks to BASSMANBOB for demand.

Re: LeoCpuSpeed for TP2?

The Leo uses the Qualcomm MSM 8250, 1GHz chip.

The TP2 uses the Qualcomm MSM7200A, 528 MHz chip.

Since we're talking about 2 diff chips, it would probably need a substantial re-write. Diff instruction sets, etc. If the author released the code, I might muck around with it... 8-)

If someone, anyone can make our TP2 overclock it would be so great! Would lose the need for any other device for a long time.

Agreed. My only concerns would be negative effects of heat (on processor & other things inside the phone) and battery drain. I haven't seen anything that reports processor temps, and not even sure if that's available on these processors.

Re: LeoCpuSpeed for TP2?

I have overclocked the hell out of my TP2. Problem is, it only works when you run Android on it.

Why is it that I can overclock my TP2 to 800Mhz when running Android, but on Windows mobile it cannot be moved to 529Mhz?

Re: LeoCpuSpeed for TP2?

I think it's maybe because the 528 Mhz is optimal not maximal, optimal for the battery, for the temperature, it's just like our TP2 is optimal in WM 6.1 with sense 2.5 or WM 6.5 with sense 2.1.

Why is it that everyone has such a hard on for an overclocker?

Personally, I find that with Vindows Plutonium WM v6.5.5 my Rhodium runs great. It is fast, reliable, and smooth. Also, I don't have to worry about my Proccessor melting down on me.

I can see why sometimes it could (possibly) come in handy, but I am not about to risk the safty and wellbeing of my phone in order to save 2 seconds off my load times.

Everybody's rom is the fastest, smoothest, and most reliable. Also they all have the best battery life :/ I will take your endrosement and try that one out simply because I haven't flashed my phone in 2 months!

Re: LeoCpuSpeed for TP2?

I understand where you are comming from, but I have used some Roms that have been utter garbage. Constant lockups, delays between quick link pages, random popup errors, forcing me to reset.

I am not going to mention any names directly (out of respect for developers).

Most of the issues are minor and if you really want to keep the ROM you can, but some of the major issues (listed above) make some ROMs fully unusable.

I just can't wait till I can get a steady version of MaxSense (either v1.04 or whenever we get v1.05)
