New version of Bing GPS not working on my TP2

Anyone else having a problem with the Bing GPS? It can never locate me and because of that, I can't use the GPS for turn by turn directions. Is there a fix to this issue? My Google Maps works fine btw.

might try turning your BT on, seems that it my be interconnected with the gps. also make sure you run quickgps.

To run Quickgps, I have to set download satellites automatically on?

Go into your bing settings for GPS and change first select "Use GPS" then change the gps source from GPS intermediate driver to COM4. That will fix your problem.
Worked for me.

Wrong. Turning on BT has nothing to do with the GPS. (unless you use and external GPS puck).

See my post above for turning on GPS and choosing COM4 within Bing and that fixes it.

David

ps, I took a deep breath before I posted this. :headbang:

Only if you're using an external BT GPS receiver.

I don't really like the new Bing as half the things I have searched for said "no result found" & Google finds those same items instantly, but Bing does find my location with no problem (so does Google)

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.3521/870; U; en) Presto/2.4.15)

GPS works with the new Bing for me but there is stupid-crazy lag. Of all the GPS apps I've tried I've never seen lag like I get with the new Bing app.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with this app the gps says always locating and doesn't do anything. I've changed the settings as a poster had stated and it didn't do anything.

some people in a different thread said they had better luck when it was installed to main memory. Do you have it on your storage card or main memory?

It is installed to the card on my Sprint TP2 running the stock 6.1 ROM, COM 4 and it works ok. I prefer the detail level Goggle provides and it lags a bit more than the previous release. I find the Sprint and Nav applications though to be more responsive. Traffic has yet to work here in Paradise.

I have it stored to my storage card. Haven't tried to store it to main memory might do that. I wonder if the other person has it to storage card too.

I use iGuidance as my primary GPS on my TP2 and really like it. Since it is completely stored on my phone - maps and all on my storage card, there is no lag while waiting for map data to load over a 3g connection. Also, since the maps and such are loaded on the phone, a 3g connection/data is not required.

Just another thought. Do you have location services turned on? Settings>Location>Location Settings Service "ON"?

Re: New version of Bing GPS not working on my TP2

Ok my bing is working now. I still have it stored to my storage card. Only things I did different was I went into quick gps and I downloaded that. I have no idea what that does and I also went into comm manager settings and turned off data connection and turned it back on. I went into bing and it finally locked onto a location for me. Who knows what if those things I did made it work but that's where Im at now.

best way I found to get this working is to download it from m.bing.com/downloads the cabs I got from here were bad and it couldnt "locate" me. Once i got it from bing directly it worked like a charm!

And download it from IE instead of opera, works better.

Re: New version of Bing GPS not working on my TP2

I'm one of the unfortunates, where I still can't get a signal; infinite "Locating"

My Sprint TP2 is on the stock 6.5
I downloaded from m.bing...
Loaded to my main memory
In Bing settings, changed to Com4
Under Setting, Location: it's on & HTC location service is checked
Under System, External GPS: GPS program port is set to Com 4
Under Quick GPS: I'm not using Auto Download, but I did a successful manual download
Stood outside for 10 minutes

No connection

Any other recommendations ?

Update:
Without making any additional changes, it now works

I've had the same problems. Had to disable/enable all of the GPS settings. the program is buggy, but the best thing available. The locate me wouldnt work with mine, even though actual navigation would work on occassion.

Re: New version of Bing GPS not working on my TP2

Op, many users have had the same problems that you're experiencing. In order to fix it, you have to update quickGPS and then soft reset your phone. When I did this, it worked fine from then on.

Oh and by the way, I have my GPS set to the default "GPS Intermediate Driver." If you soft reset and it still doesn't work, then try setting your GPS back to that setting.

Let me know if it works.
