Got replacement phone...Now what?
 

Sorry for being such a newby! I was having some pretty major issues with my HTC Touch Pro 2 and Verizon sent me a replacement. The old phone is working OK now but I need to swtich to the new one. What is the best way to backup the data AND apps on my phone and transfer to the new phone. THANKS!!!

The new way that a lot of people like to use is "Microsoft My Phone" but im still oldschool and like to use "Pim Backup" Here is a copy of PimBackup that creates a shortcut in the start menu and changes the icon. To get the icon to change after installing you must soft reset.

Thanks. I installed PIM Backup. Does it do the backup to a file that can be moved to a PC. I see the backup and restore option but how do I restore on the new phone? Thanks!!

when you are first running it in the prompts it has a place where to tell it where to store the files. then when you restore you just follow the path to where you saved them and run that. also this program has a scheduler to backup every x days at x time in it that you can setup

SPB Backup is probably the best way to BU/restore the entire current setup.....

That is similar to using Ghost in your PC.

that may be true, but i would NOT backup the entire registry when going from one rom to another. this is known to cause problems.

I've never had any problem doing a full restore if it's the exact same phone (IE: replacing one TP2 with another TP2)

I have done that numerous times, it never caused me any problem.

Concur with the PIM Backup solution.

Activesync would work also if you're already syncing your outlook data with your PC
