Random Screen Activation
Hi guys, I'm a complete newb here and this is my first windows mobile device so please bear with me if this question is redundant, I did a search and haven't come up with anything.
I've had the phone for a couple of months now and am learning something new every day. One issue I have is the screen will "wake up" randomly. The phone will be either on charge or battery and on a flat surface and the screen will randomly pop up. No calls/msg etc, have been received. As best as I can tell when this happens the screen stays active and does not shut down. The phone has basically the stock settings and only a few downloads from the preinstalled sources. The only other quirk is the clocks backscreen seems to randomly change styles. Thanks |
Re: Random Screen Activation
Is this when the phone is in the same place for long periods of time?
If you were walking somewhere, driving, etc - it could be finding a new WiFi network. My phone turns on at the same place every day during my drive home from work...so I'm assuming it's found a hotspot that somehow reaches all the way to the freeway... |
Re: Random Screen Activation
Nope, in fact just as I was reading your post the phone, about 6" from my hand just woke up.

Re: Random Screen Activation
This happens to mine also. I live in San Diego, CA. The phone never turns on by itself anywhere I go in San Diego. But if I drive up to Ontario, CA the phone turns on by itself and stays on till the screen times out. Then it turns back on a few minutes later.
My TP1 did the same thing in the same area. I turned WIFI off, Turned BT off and still does it. I read a while back that this is a gift from HTC on it's WinMo phones. My old Treo 800w never did this. I believe I read that the HTC WinMo phones think they are in roaming when it is actually on Sprint network with full bars. Only cure I found was to put the device into airplane mode, or keep a charger handy..... |
Re: Random Screen Activation
it's the Cosmic Ray sensor....the Screen turns on to send the details to NOAA when a cosmic ray strikes.
