[How To] Manually remove Phantom text/email count through the REG..

was just strollin the REG last night for a few min.. something i do from time to time just trying to learn more..
i know some people like to do things themselves and not use a utility such as fixunreadcount.exe and such... dont really see any of the "i have a missed text but all say read" kinda post anymore, but found the REG yesterday that controls it all manually so i thought id put it up anyways.. HKCU\System\State\Messages ...from there you have MMS.SMS.other.other email.sms.and voicemail... each has an "Unread" subfolder to go into also.. and there you will see "Count".. it will show your phantom message count.. change to 0 and soft reset and its gone... **interesting note** in the folders is also an "account name" and/or "text" REG where in theory you can edit what your accounts are called(though for email, you can make it say whatever you want when you set up each account) but if you dont like seeing SMS / MMS at the TOP of that page, you can chage it to say something like "Messages" or "Texts / Pics".. should work no problem **attached the fixunredcount utility that fixes unread count for those who like the simplier way, but mightve missed this posted a few times about the site.. this was what i used when it happened to me.. sweet lil thing it is.. |

Thanks. I've done this and it worked, but it still happens each time I get a new SMS. Any way to fix it permanently?

it happens EVERY time you get a message???? i dunno, when this was common, it would only happen every now and again..
I say take the file attached to post 1 and just run that when you need it... I dont know why it would be happening EVERY time you get messages |

yeah no prob... i didnt make the .exe just reposted... i just found the reg edits one day bored and i know some people prefer a more visual method of changing things... but your still welcome, glad i could help

I had the phantom alert once, the led was just blinking where I can't find any alert, no new txt, email, missed call... I had to reset to clear it.
Also, I found that when entering the txt msg "tab", it's the last msg, not the new arrival, anyone knows how to change that? |

install either Resco or Total COmmand(attached)..
fire up T.C.> goto \\plugins and youll see registry |

Do I have to download that file while on my phone or can I sync it from my laptop?

I set it to 0 and reset but it still shows 1 unread message.

Okay. Figured it out. You need to change more than the sms count to 0. You need to change the text to read "SMS/MMS (0)" instead of "SMS/MMS (1)". Then you need to change total message setting to 0 instead of 1. The reset.

lot of people seem to be confused about it even though its pretty much clear cut. i dont get this issue but now ill kno what to do when it happens.
