I Pledge $25.00 when it is working on a Sprint Touch Pro 2. I believe this is a scam!!! I dare you to make me eat my words!!! In fact I double dog dare you to make me eat my words. I heard this none sense so many times before and usually they stop talking crap and the thread usually dies with no progess. These kind of thread to produce a lot of talk and no action. If he does deliver I will thank every post the threadstarter post posted on this thread.

Well, Jamice... It would be a scam if they took your money first and didn't deliver the thing promised, but here, you are not giving a single dime until the thing is out and about. Indeed, you could even get all that for free when (and if) it comes out.

The contributions here are just promises for a reward for a job that we all feel would be a significant feat. Heck, I don't think anyone is gonna sue your ass even if you promise a sum and don't donate when the thing is made available.

Peace!

It was more of a tongue-in-cheek remark with no intention of derision.

As for explanation, SweetBearCub already did that immediately below his/her post. No need for me to repeat the same.

But thanks for your alerting me, you are a good ppcgeek Samaritan. :-)

- Some gyms broadcast TV audio on FM only.
- During a natural disaster (hurricane, earthquake, etc.), cellular service is likely to be overloaded or non-existent, FM radio is likely to work much better to get needed information.
- The FM receiver is capable of receiving RDS data (short text snippets: traffic data, emergency vehicle alerts, local info) which a GPS app may be able to make use of.

Additionally..

- We know that our phones have the capability to receive FM broadcasts, whether or not it is disabled is irrelevant. As tech geeks, we want the feature to work.

I think that if it was possible for the sprint tp2 to use fm radio, it would have been done by now. But I think there is a hardware issue that is preventing it. Just because the drivers for the bt stack are there, doesn't mean the hardware is.
Look at the ipad, it has camera drivers, but no camera....

I never said anything about the feasibility of gaining access to the FM radio, I only listed the reasons why we as a community might want access to the FM radio instead of streaming audio via the data connection.
