Energy ROM Custom Settings Exporter

This is a new thread for NRG28 to use as a way to guage what to set up for the next and future ROM releases for Custom User Settings Exporter. Please select what you want most from the poll or post something you would like to add that's not on the poll. (I'm still working on the poll so just post stuff and I'll add it when I finish the poll)

Can anyone help me add new items?

Re: Energy ROM Custom Settings Exporter

Create these in Notepad (or export the reg key using RegEdit) and save them as a .reg file type in your XDA_UC folder:

1. OWNER INFO (export the entire "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Owner" key after you have your phone set up the way you want it)
Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Owner]

Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Time]

3. NOTIFICATION SOUNDS

Use KeepMyTones. Works for all notification tones as long as the actual sound file in on the device.

If someone knows who created this or knows a thread about this, let me know so I can give credit and thanks.

4. BACKLIGHT SETTINGS (export the entire "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight" key after you have your phone set up the way you want it)
Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight]
"DispOn"=dword:00000001
"BatteryTimeout"=dword:000000b4
"ACTimeout"=dword:0000012c
"BatteryTimeoutUnchecked"=dword:000000b4
"ACTimeoutUnchecked"=dword:0000012c
"Brightness"=dword:0000000a
"LightDetectOn"=dword:00000000
"LightSensorPollingEnable"=dword:00000001
"ACBrightness"=dword:0000000a
"KeyLightAutoSensor"=dword:00000001
"AutoDeviceLockTimeout"=dword:00000005
"AutoDeviceLockEnable"=dword:00000000
"AutoSensor"=dword:00000001
"QKeyLedTimeout"=dword:0000000a
"BatteryTimeoutTemp"=dword:00000000
"ACTimeoutTemp"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\LockLevel]
"LockLevel"=dword:00000000

I've been having some issues with this one lately. It want to set the turn device off on battery power to 1 min...? Also, this reg key did not work on the 20th ROM. I'm going to re-export it from the 20th ROM for future use. So, not 100% on this one but it doesn't hurt to try.

5. HOMETABS

This one's tricky and is something I'd personally like to see automated. You have to export "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila" then edit it for the ROM you're on. Not worth creating a reg file for in my opinion.

And this will set it to download when roaming
Code:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Data.DownloadWhenRoaming"=dword:00000001
"Data.AutoDownloadOff"=dword:00000000

To Keep your Opera Settings, including the Home Page Quick Links, you need to copy the datastorage folder. If you try the XDA_UC beta, you just create the filepath Copy2Root\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\profile\datastorage\

Folder 6 has the quick links and folder 1 has your settings

Re: Energy ROM Custom Settings Exporter

Seems like I always spend about 30 min going through and setting everything back up each time I flash (I've yet to really be satisfied with any of the options out there, or the amount of time learning/setting up them to work correctly).

First off, I install the Verizon keyboard fix.
Then I change the owner info.
Then I go through each of the items in the Settings home tab and adjust/modify things like home tabs and order, font size, default volume, notification sounds/options, backlight, phone name, etc.
Next I go into mail options to select the option to use the storage card for attachments (why the hell isn't that the default selection????).
Then I set up active sync for my corporate email/contacts/calendar, and adjust settings for those (including to download all messages and attachments up to 250KB).
While that is syncing the first time, I set up my personal email account (a gmail account) and set it to download all messages and attachments up to 250KB.
Back into email settings to put my signatures in for both accounts.
Next, I set up the Live login (for messenger, bing, etc).
Then on to MyPhone (for restoring what few texts I save, etc).
When exchange is done syncing, I put in my login to facebook so my contacts will sync.
Then I login to Youtube (though the included app doesn't seem to support my login information??)

Once I've got all that set up using the "built-in" items in the ROM, then I'll start installing all my own apps, moving around start menu shortcuts, and finally setting up Cookie home with all my shortcuts.

Not sure if there is a point to this post except to outline the process I go through on each flash - which I try to keep to no more often than every other week or so (I do need to use this phone for work most of the time).

So, if there were a way to EASILY (i.e. no learning curve or painstaking trial-and-error like Sashimi was for me) back up and quickly restore any number of the above steps or settings, that would be awesome!

TIA - and thanks for the incredible ROMs NRG.

Re: Energy ROM Custom Settings Exporter

Dude. XDA_UC is the easiest. just make a folder in the Storage Card folder called XDA_UC. put all of the cabs you install into this folder. They will all install automatically to your device. I'll post some xml code later in this post. All you do is open notepad, paste the code into it and save the file as whatevreryowant.xml and put it in your XDA_UC folder. Outlook will set itself up and Active Sync will run automatically. All I do after it's done syncing is go to options and check the tasks box so it will sync my tasks. Most of the other stuff you do above can be done with reg keys. Set your phone up fully how you like it. Open start-tools-Registry Editor. navigate to the various registry keys (some are listed above) and long press one. select export and export it to your XDA_UC folder. the next time you flash or hard reset, XDA_UC will restore your phone to the way it was before you flashed (for the most part).

You can PM me and I'll help you set it up.

That goes for anyone who needs help. I have a lot of registry keys that I already use and I will gladly help anyone who needs it. Making the flash as painless as possible makes it so much more fun. I now have a few different set-ups that I use. One for CHT, one for GTX, and one for non-Energy ROMs. Each set-up has different cabs and registry settings. Now I can flash to a different ROM and still have a fully functioning phone with little to no effort. It comes in handy when I hear or see a new ROM that I want to try.

...

I was doing the same thing until NRG added the reader and Facebook. If the available tabs changes, this will not work correctly. When he added the Facebook tab, my Twitter tab opened Facebook and I didn't even have a Facebook tab as an option. So as long as the available tabs and their order don't change, you'll be fine with this.

"Homepage program tabs" Do you mean the Quicklinks? If so, switch over to Cookie version. You can save you homepage set-up and export it. Then when you flash or hard reset, you can just import those settings again and your homepage will look just like you had it.
