activesync and exchange is killing my battery!

hi everyone,

i recently started syncing my email with our exchange server at work. everything has been working fine until recently activesync has been acting up!

whenever i start my phone up, activesync is always syncing and is stuck at ~99% FOREVER! it seems to be stuck at syncing something but i cant see what is going on and cant even stop it. i cant see the process in task manager and it occasionally locks access to outlook (for texts and email) so i cant do anything!

i am using the Blackout rom which is 6.1 with sense 2.5.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated. this problem is killing my battery life horrendously because its always connected to the internet and syncing something that never finishes even hours later.

thanks!

have you tried to re-sync? like deleting your phone and then reconnecting

ive actually tried that several times. its driving me nuts =(

it might have something to do with this reoccurring event that happens every 2 weeks with no end date. ive heard that it causes a problem with blackberry calendar so maybe thats the case? i didnt create the event so i cant change the end date.

You can setuo menual sync by tabbing

ActiveSync -> Menu -> Schedule

On the schedule screen, select "Manually" for both "Peak times" & "Off-peak times".

This will disable auto sync.

the annoying thing is i actually need push email for work. i dont mind auto syncing, but the sync never actually finishes. its still trying to finish as we speak.

I setup my TP2 to sync with Google Calendar and I have a lot of reoccurring events. One thing that I do is to periodically delete old/experied events (i.e., 2 months) on my TP2 to help improving my TP2 performance. My ActiveSync is setup so that it'll only sync with Google calendar for the future events and the past 2 weeks events only. This will reduce the number of events that needs to be syc and I also get to keep old my events on Google Calendar.

seems like there is some event that is preventing it from fully syncing...like it started to before but cant now...i would talk to your it department at work if possible

Did you have your IT guy provide you with a security certificate?

i am following the instructions provided from another TP2 user. i think it has something to do with my contacts because it is getting stuck and constantly trying to download something. guess i'll have to go through my list and see what does and doesnt match up unless someone can recommend a better way of doing this.

thanks to everyones for their input so far.
